A number of artists of my acquaintance men as well as women fully engaged during the day by their professional work in the City and studios would very

greatly appreciate the privilege of working under your direction one or two nights a week.

A mixed class and a draped model would easily be found – I feel sure.

Editorial Note:

Edith Mary Hinchley (1870 - 1940), heraldic artist and miniaturist. She studied at the Royal College of Art, graduating in 1898. In addition to her heraldic output and miniatures, Hinchley painted landscapes, portraits and undertook illustrations. A member of the Fabian Society, she was active in the Suffragette Movement.  She donated various objects and works of art to, amongst other institutions, the V&A and the British Museum. Her husband, John William Hinchley, founded the Institute of Chemical Engineering in 1922. For further biographical information, see V Irene Cockroft,
