Flipping your math classroom - more than just videos and worksheets

(1 hour webinar)

Webinar Archive

The flipped classroom is not just about watching videos at home - it's about getting time back in your classroom to deepen the learning experience for students. Flipping transformed my high school math classroom into one with more student-centered active learning and higher-order thinking activities that allowed my students to take ownership of their learning and communicate mathematically in ways I could never do before. Come and learn how to truly define an effective flipped classroom and gather ideas for the five questions every flipped classroom teacher must answer. Whether you are already flipping, intrigued by the idea, or a current naysayer of flipping, I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and providing you the resources to begin your flipping journey. Recommended for teachers grades 4 and up.

Have you ever found yourself repeating the same information over and over again? Do you wish you could do more hands-on activities in class but still feel like you need to “cover” some information first?  Come learn how to clone yourself using Screencasting and Whiteboarding tools.  Tuesday 8/23 is for teachers who would like to make their own videos using their iPads with whiteboarding apps, and Thursday 8/25 is for those who want to use their computer or laptop with screencasting programs.  Middle School and High School teachers of all content areas are welcome at both sessions depending on your tech preference.

Flipping with Kirch: The Ups and Downs from Inside my Flipped Classroom

As a pioneer of flipped learning, Crystal Kirch opened her classroom experiences to the entire world of education. Through her blog at flippingwithkirch.blogspot.com, Crystal shared what she and her students did every step of the way. Most activities worked exactly as planned, and sometimes Crystal learned right along with her students how to make flipped learning better. Wild successes and challenging setbacks…Crystal shared them all.

While she shared, Crystal inspired a generation of flipclass teachers to give flipping a try, keep at it, or continue on to their next iteration of their flipping journey.

Now Crystal Kirch shares all her experiences again in one extensive book. With new ideas, updated information, and precise connections to the best pedagogical practices, she shares her practical strategies to transform teaching and learning.

Look inside the classroom of an accomplished flipped learning practitioner. See what can work and understand what to avoid as you enhance your flipping journey by Flipping with Kirch.

With a Foreword by Flipped Learning Pioneer Jon Bergmann

Featuring vignettes from #flipclass teachers Lindsay Cole, Lindsay Stephenson, Audrey McLaren, and Tara Maynard.
