TALK TENNIS PREDICTION LEAGUE WORLD TOUR FINALS ELITE EIGHT COMPETITION
The tournament for the Elite 8 will consist of three unique competitions:
- A normal individual competition with points for each WTF round.
- A choice of a bonus individual competition at the beginning of the World Tour Finals.
- A group competition with a special prize for the group.
NORMAL COMPETITION - Five rounds and each round is worth 3 points. Any points earned will be added to overall TPL rankings.
- ROUND ONE: For the first set of round robin matches (four of them), pick one match you think will be a three setter and one you think you will be a two setter. You can also choose “none” for either option. Cannot be the same match.
- 1.5 points per correct prediction.
- ROUND TWO: For the second set of round robin matches, predict the player with the most aces in this round and the player who’ll lose the least amount of games in the second round. Can be the same player for both predictions.
- 1.5 points per correct prediction.
- ROUND THREE: For the third set of round robin matches, predict the player who will have the most winners in this round and the player who will have the most unforced errors in this round. Can be the same player for both predictions.
- 1.5 points per correct prediction.
- ROUND FOUR: For each semifinal match, predict the amount of games.
- 1.5 points per match if you're within two plus or minus. (Ex: If prediction is 20 and actual result is either 18, 19, 20, 21, or 22 points are awarded.)
- ROUND FIVE: Predict the number of breaks for each player in the final.
- 1.5 points per correct prediction. For example:
- I predict: Djokovic breaks Federer 2 times, Federer breaks Djokovic 4 times.
- Actual Result: Djokovic breaks Federer 2 times and Federer doesn't break Djokovic at all.
- I get: 1.5 points
BONUS COMPETITION - Choose ONE bonus option to complete:
- OPTION ONE: Map out how you think the entire WTF/YEC will go! You only get the bonus if you're EXACTLY right.
- 5 points to your overall TPL rankings if ALL of them are right.
- EXAMPLE:
- Sample groups (based on ATP Race Rankings) - Group 1 is Nadal, Ferrer, Berdych, and Wawrinka and Group 2 is Djokovic, Federer, Del Potro, and Gasquet
- I predict before anything is played:
- Group 1: Nadal d Wawrinka, Ferrer d Berdych, Ferrer d Nadal, Wawrinka d Berdych, Nadal d Berdych, Ferrer d Wawrinka
- Group 2: Djokovic d Gasquet, Federer d Del Potro, Djokovic d Federer, Del Potro d Gasquet, Djokovic d Del Potro, Federer d Gasquet
- Semis: Djokovic d Nadal, Federer d Ferrer
- Final: Federer d Djokovic
- OPTION TWO: Pick the player for these five questions before the start of any matches
- Who will for the entire competition...
1. Serve the most aces?
2. Have the least amount of unforced errors?
3. Get broken the most?
4. Get broken the least?
5. Not win a single match? (None is also an option.)
- If there are ties for any responses (ex: both Federer and Tsonga have the same highest ace count), all correct responses will be counted.
- 5 points to your overall TPL ranking if ALL five responses are right.
GROUP COMPETITION:
- The Elite Eight will be placed in two groups based on where their respective ATP player ends up. Feel free to choose your group names once they’ve been determined. Based on current ATP RACE and TPL EE Rankings -
- dcdoorknob = Nadal
- Boozyuzi = Djokovic
- saloni = Ferrer
- bezs = Del Potro
- JayChu = Berdych
- kishnabe = Federer
- kpxjam9 = Wawrinka
- Li Ching Yuen = Gasquet
- A group members’ normal competition and bonus competition points will be combined against the opposing group to determine the winning group. If tied at the end, the tiebreaker will be the general league scores of each group combined. Then their percentage and then only the points gained for winner/runner up in the general league..... if still tied, then a coin toss.
- THE CLASSY SEXY PRIZE FOR THE WINNING GROUP:
- The four TPLers of the winning group can just ONCE at anytime during the 2014 TPL season (excluding the Elite Eight and WTF Competition) replace their daily score with that of another group member’s score. Some special rules for this:
- Cannot replace the score if it’s the lowest for the day.
- Cannot use any score that is the highest for the day.
- Score change has to be between the end of play for the day you’re replacing and the start of play for the following day.
- This replaced score will not count towards the H2H score for that day, only general league score.
- You cannot use this to replace a 0 for a missed day, but you can use it if you’re late for a few matches for a day and aren’t lower than the lowest score for the day.
Hope all this is fun! Good luck to everyone.
