K-5 Curriculum 

Students can choose from our Inclusive options or from our Choice options.  These options include textbook work, online work or a mixture of both.   A program must be chosen for each of the four core subjects of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies (with the exception of Kindergarten where Social Science is optional).  If requested, a laptop will be provided for K-5 students.

Supplementary Curriculum

Students will have the opportunity to utilize online supplemental curriculum.  Speak with your home room teacher about which is best for you.

Middle School Curriculum Rules/Options

6-8 Curriculum 

Students can choose from our Inclusive options or from our Choice options (up to two textbook options for 6th-8th).  These options include textbook work, online work or a mixture of both.   A program must be chosen for each of the four core subjects of Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.  6th-8th may also take elective classes, such as keyboarding, foreign language and/or health. Please speak to your homeroom teacher about elective offerings.   A laptop may be provided for all 6th-8th grade students.

Credits in Middle School- Leveling up

Students may take some high school level courses and gain high school credit, but no accommodations or alterations may be made to the curriculum.  Speak with your home room teacher about these options.

Credit will only be awarded in 0.5 or 1.0 increments (65 hours = 0.5 credit, 130 hours=1.0 credit)

High School Credit Rules/Options

2.1 Highly Qualified- All math, science, language arts, social science, music, arts, and foreign language courses must be graded, supervised and taught by TSPC licensed highly qualified teachers

2.2 Credit increments- Credit will only be awarded in 0.5 or 1.0 increments (65 hours = 0.5 credit, 130 hours=1.0 credit)

2.3 Credit by Proficiency- Students may be assigned unit review and final test in any class they feel they can test out of.  They must take the final exam in the presence of a teacher, admin assistant, or administrator.  Students must score an 80% or above on the final exam in order to be granted credit.  Anything above a total of 2 CBP credits will need administrator approval.

2.4 Work Experience- Students may fill out work study form, provide necessary verification of experience, and turn in for work experience.  Anything over 2.0 credits to graduate requires administrator approval.

2.5 Independent Study- This option is available only after administrator approval.  Students may arrange with their administrator and teacher for an independent study course.  All courses will be elective credit for pass/fail only.  Documentation of work and examples must be provided.

2.6 Work from other institutions- Credit will not be accepted unless it is from an accredited educational institution with an official transcript

2.7 Credits in Middle School- Middle school students may take high school credits while in middle school assuming they are academically ready and no modifications can be made to pace or content.  All high school credits stay on the transcript.

Graduation Options

BCS - Diploma Type Grid

All seniors who graduate in 2017 will need to demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing AND math

ODE: Essential Skills Graduation Requirement

BCS Standard Diploma- For students on track or 2-3 credits behind to graduate on time; this option includes Capstone requirement.  Seniors 10 credits and under will be encouraged to pursue this diploma track.  All coursework must be part of a plan to graduate.

Honors  Diploma- For students are college bound with a minimum 3.5 GPA. This diploma requires a total of 26 credits; including 4 math and science credits, 2 years of a foreign language,  and completion of 3 college credits.  

Oregon Standard Diploma- Administrator/Counselor approval required and parent meeting recommended.  For students who are behind credits to graduate.  Seniors needing more than 10 credits and Juniors needing 15 or more credits to graduate will get a recommendation to pursue this diploma option.  There is no Capstone requirement but the following requirements: Math 3.0, LA 4.0, Science 3.0, Social Science 3.0, PE 1.0, Health 1.0, REQ- 3.0, and Electives 6.0.

Modified Diploma- The modified diploma is only available to students who have a documented inability to complete standard level coursework due to various limiting factors.  A parent, student, administrator and teacher team must elect this diploma track 2 years before anticipated graduation date.  Requirements are: LA 3.0, Math 2.0, Science 2.0, Social Science 2.0, Health 1.0, PE 1.0, REQ 1.0, and 12.0 elective credits.

Portfolio- Student who are not able to pass the OAKS reading and writing exams for 2013 will need a portfolio of evidence containing reading and writing work samples. Seek assistance with your school administrator if you have questions.
