Molar Mass (aka the mass of one mole of material)

Moles, % Composition, Empirical and Molecular Formulas

Learning Target 2.4.1: I can determine the molar mass of a compound from its chemical formula and a table of atomic masses; convert the mass of a molecular substance to moles, number of particles, or volume of gas at standard temperature and pressure.

Molar Mass (aka the mass of one mole of material)

Goal 2.4.1.e: I can determine a molar mass of an element and a compound.

Misconceptions:

Molar mass is defined at the mass of one mole of any element, compound, or material. Molar mass is also called Molar Weight, Molecular Mass, Molecular Weight, Formula Weight. Usually the unit for molar mass or molar weight is grams per mole (g/mol)

Watch the video Calculating Molar Weight/Molar Mass[1] and do the interactive practice question found by scrolling to the bottom of the page .

In your notes, write down what is the biggest takeaway from the video.

Practice by doing the Molar Mass Worksheet.

Do the Molar Mass Lab.
