Floyd County Schools (FCS) values and promotes active engagement of all stakeholders in our schools.  To be in compliance with State Law (O.C.G.A 19-7-5) that identifies all volunteers as mandated reporters of child abuse, Floyd County, in partnership with Communities in Schools (CIS), will adhere to the following protocol.

Any person that desires to volunteer in a school is required to participate in Volunteer Training through CIS and submit to a fingerprinting/background check, which is being provided through Communities in Schools free of charge.  This background check will consist of Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) inquiries.

Each school has a schedule of training dates, times and locations.  Due to the change in protocol anyone who has previously participated in training will be required to renew prior to October 31st to maintain certificate.  Volunteer Training will remain valid for a three year period and will transfer within all Floyd County Schools.  Please contact your school counselor or visit our website for more details.

We thank you in advance for understanding that student safety is always our primary goal.
