2016 Executive Committee
From the entire Executive Committee, we wish you all a belated Happy Diwali and Saal Mubarak! May the new year bring joy and prosperity to you and your family.
The Fall season is in full swing, and the holidays soon be upon us. The mood festive, and families joyous. It is a time to share with loved ones and even total strangers. Be kind to yourself and to others. And a thankful attitude towards all. That is not only a Jain tenet, it is the basis of every way of life.

Our center participates in Adopt-A-Highway cleanup twice a year. The statewide Adopt-A-Highway program was established in 1988 and is a joint effort between community volunteers and NC Department of Transportation to keep our roads clean. JSCNC adopted a stretch of Highway 54 in Cary between Morrisville Parkway and Airport Boulevard. This stretch is named in honor of Mr. Lalit Banker.
The tradition was continued this October 15th with the leadership of Priteshbhai Shah. A few captured memories for this at the link below:
Thank you to Priteshbhai for leading this event and the various volunteers who provided these pictures.
JSCNC is one of the proud sponsors of Raleigh CROP Hunger Walk 2016. We had quite a good turnout from both individual sponsors and walkers.
Aside from the Walk itself, there were some other fun things to do prior to the Walk. All these were captured in pictures as well, and can be seen at the link below.
Thank you to Ajaybhai and Jayshreeben Shah for leading this inspiring event, and treating us to some great pav bhaji in the after-party. Also, thanks to those who brought chhaas, tea, cookies and various other items. A pleasant surprise of a great many treats indeed.
And finally, a great thanks to all who participated, both in monetary terms, and as walkers, to help bring forth the awareness of, and to stop hunger in the world we live in.
The total donations for the Crop Walk was over $34000, with $1267 of that coming from JSCNC.
Monthly Meeting Lunches
It has come to our attention that some families might be reserved in having lunch at the monthly meetings. The reasons could be many, from not feeling comfortable to not knowing whether they could or not.
Regardless of your level of participation, please know that everyone is welcome, and we humbly ask for your participation in monthly meeting lunches.

Weekly Mahavir Puja
Every Saturday, a Mahavir Puja is performed at the Hindu Temple. Volunteers sign up to perform this Puja, and are assigned specific Saturdays.
The Puja is very simple and takes less than one hour. It is a great way to teach and prepare children with this important ritual, so that they find confidence in performing it during daily routine, special occasions or even pilgrimages in India. Children will learn how to perform the kesar Puja and all aspects of Asht prakari Puja.
Mrs. Rekha Banker, who coordinates weekly Puja, will be happy to demonstrate in person, and has several books with illustrations to help. If you are interested, please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (919) 676-4548.
