“Now, brothers and sisters, I want you to remember the Good News I told you. You received that Good News message, and you continue to base your life on it. That Good News, the message you heard from me, is God’s way to save you. But you must continue believing it. If you don’t, you believed for nothing. I gave you the message that I received. I told you the most important truths: that Christ died for our sins, as the Scriptures say; that he was buried and was raised to life on the third day, as the Scriptures say; and that he appeared to Peter and then to the twelve apostles. After that Christ appeared to more than 500 other believers at the same time. Most of them are still living today, but some have died. Then he appeared to James and later to all the apostles. Last of all, he appeared to me. I was different, like a baby born before the normal time.”

Our School Council has organized another fundraising evening at the McDonald’s at 1250 Stittsville Main Street, on Wednesday, February 8th. Between 4 and 8 pm, present the form that will be sent home with the students this week, and 20% of the total of your meal purchase will go towards supporting School Council initiatives. Purchases can be made in the McDonald’s or at the Drive-thru. Thanks for your support.
The St. Stephen Green Team is encouraging all students to bring in Litterless lunches. Starting on Tuesday, January 31st, each time a student brings a litterless lunch to school, their name will be entered in a draw to win an Eco-friendly prize. More information can be found at:
Gospel Values Assembly
On Friday, February 3rd, we will be holding a Gospel Values Assembly, at 2:00 pm in the gym. We will be presenting certificates to students in Grades 1 to 6 who were selected from each class as students who demonstrate the need for, and importance of, faith and hope in their daily actions.
Parking Lot Safety
A reminder that if parents are driving their children to school, they should arrive between 8:15 and 8:20am and use the drop off lane (on the right/sidewalk side of the parking lot). Students should exit on the passenger side, to the sidewalk on the right. Please do not park and exit your vehicle, unless you are dropping off a Kindergarten student.
We are experiencing traffic flow issues when cars stop beside the cars in the drop off lane and let out children. This also creates safety issues, as students exiting these vehicles have to walk in between the cars in the drop off lane. If there are no spaces available in the drop off lane, parents should park in one of the available parking spots in the lot and walk their children to the gate for the yard.
When exiting the parking lot, please follow the arrows that are painted on the pavement.
Another option is to park on a side street and walk your child to the school. Our amazing crossing guard has asked that vehicles not be parked on Stittsville Main Street, as the parked cars can block her view of approaching vehicles.
Thanks for your cooperation.
The Boys Floorball team had a great tournament at our school last week and now the Girls Floorball team is very excited that St. Stephen School will host their tournament on Tuesday, January 31st. We wish the girls the best of luck.
Afternoon Pick Up
When the students who walk home get to the gate at the front of the yard, they are always so happy to see their parents’ smiling faces, and in some cases, their dogs as well. However, if you are bringing your pets when picking up your children at the end of the day, we ask that you stand away from the gate.
We have some students who are nervous around dogs and they are sometimes uncomfortable when walking to their buses, or through the gate to head home. We also have other students who love dogs so much that they focus on wanting to pet the dogs instead of getting onto their buses in a safe manner. If everyone bringing dogs at the end of day could wait for their children away from the opening of the gate it would be much appreciated.
