1998 – Hurricane Mitch, the second deadliest Atlantic hurricane in history, makes landfall in Honduras. This storm ultimately killed over 10,000 people and impacted millions of people. Puerto Rican nationalists Griselio Torresola and Oscar Collazo attempted to assassinate US President Harry S. Truman at Blair House. The issue of statehood for Puerto Rico has been a hot issue of a number of years. Many people within the United States think that since Puerto Rico enjoys protection from our military, immigration rights, political freedoms and other benefits as a protectorate they should go ahead and become the 51st state. Puerto Ricans are split. What do you think about have another state? Do you think it should be Puerto Rico or perhaps do you have your own ideas?
