Ngapuhi  and Ngati Porou!!!!!

When it happened?

The war started, year 1865 and carried on through till year 1870. 

What happened?

Ngapuhi went on a rampage . A large group of them moved through places, going crazy, killing people.

Where did it  happened?

The war happened in the South of the Waiapu Valley, North Island New Zealand.

Why it happened ?

Ngati Porou were a large organised group that stood to attack their attackers which was seen as an invasion by Hauhau forces.

Who won?

 Ngapuhi won, as they had more weapons to use on Ngati Porou. Ngati Porou didn’t have much, especially not any guns.

Ngapuhi quickly invaded Ngati Porou with the use of their guns, masaka. These guns had been traded  from the pakeha.

How did it happen?

Ngati Porous motive was clearly to win the battle, to gain the control and hold the power.

Who was the leader for Ngapuhi?

Patara Rau Patauri led the Ngapuhi side and Ngati Porou had no leader.
