HAMPTON E-NEWS I June 21, 2018
Philippians 2:1-11 | Rev. Ryan Pixton
Raising Kids to Live “I’m Third”
PCUSA Mission Co-workers in Niger
Some of you are familiar with Rachel and Michael Ludwig who are currently serving as PCUSA Mission Co-workers in Niger. Rachel grew up in Pittsburgh and Michael attended seminary here. Since 2014, they've been serving in Niger with the Evangelical Church in the Republic of Niger (EERN) where they're involved with Community Health Evangelism, a ministry that seeks to help the nation, enhance relationships between Christian and Muslims, and provide a welcomed way of sharing the good news of Christ.
On Wednesday, July 18, you (and as many people from your congregation would like to attend) are invited to Elfinwild Presbyterian Church at 7:00 PM to hear about the Ludwig families' work in Niger. A number of our North Branch churches, as well as others throughout the Presbytery, support the Ludwig's, and this will provide an opportunity for all of us to hear about their on-going ministry together. We will be meeting in the fellowship hall and light refreshments will be available to enjoy.
The Ludwigs will be traveling with President Kadade, the leader of the Evangelical Church in Niger. As part of his trip the United States, he is attending the General Assembly as well as the RCA (Reformed Church in America) General Synod so it will be quite the privilege and opportunity to meet with him in a smaller setting.
One last note of encouragement: this is an excellent event for your mission committee to attend together. The combination of hearing from both sides of the mission co-worker partnership is unique and I believe will be of benefit to all who attend.
There is no cost to attend, but we are asking that you RSVP with an approximate number so we can plan accordingly. You can register online. Registration is by congregation but if your plans change, feel free to submit additional registrations using the same form. The deadline for registrations is Thursday, July 12. If you have any questions, please email Cathy Nelson.
Hosanna Industries is a faith-rooted, non-profit mission whose work helps our impoverished neighbors. Hosanna builds and repairs home for the needy; teaches and leads classes and workshops in art, nature and spirituality; provides help to areas of disaster; and provides volunteer opportunities for ALL skill levels and ages.
PLEASE NOTE: We are nearing the end of the Second Quarter and another mission payment is to be made. Be sure to keep your pledge to the mission and ministry of HPC up to date. Or maybe you’d like to start supporting. A new method of giving is available. Check it out here: https://hpcusa.breezechms.com/give/online
