The role of peatlands as nature-based solutions (NBS) is recognised as an integral part to reach the 1.5 degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement. Facing the Global Stocktake at COP28, this event will focus on the potentials of scaling up peatland action and how to overcome the obstacles ahead. Peatland conservation, restoration & management as NbS to reach climate & biodiversity targets require clear policy targets and substantial funds from multiple sources. Besides public funding, private sector contributions & blended finance are urgently needed to leverage rewetting at scale. Best-practice approaches will be showcased.
