[1] On 14 October 1930, John Charles de la Poer Beresford, 7th Marquess of Waterford married Juliet Mary Lindsay (1904-1987), second daughter of Major David Balcarres Lindsay (1863-1943) and his wife Grace Maud Miller (d. 1945). Lord and Lady Waterford signed the artist’s sitters’ book in November 1930. A contemporary newspaper account noted that “Lord Waterford’s family and relations are presenting the bride and bridegroom with their portraits [5170][5173], painted by Mr Philip de Laszlo” (“Marquis Weds in London,” Dundee Evening Telegraph, Tuesday, 14 October 1930, p. 8).
