Jah Rastafari: Peace, Love, and the Rasta Vibe.

Bob Marley is someone who everyone will remember as a rastafarian, reggae artist, and for the three rasta colours. I will discuss these three main points and share what I now know about the rastafarian culture and people.

Rastafarians grow dreads and are vegetarians. Dreads are created when hair becomes matted together after not being combed for a period of time. Most dreadlocks are intentionally done as a hair style. Some people who grow dreads are doing this for spiritual reasons they wear or grow dreads because they feel like they are closer or they can feel their god Jah. The people who grow dreads are mostly grown by Rastafarians

Reggae is one of the most popular music genre in New Zealand, which was made popular by Bob marley in 1980. Reggae is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960’s. By the 1970’s it had become an international style that was particularly popular in Britain, the United States and Africa.

The three rasta colours are red, green, and gold. They represent the earth, the death of the slaves and the sun. The correct order of the rasta colours is actually Red, then yellow, and then green. The colours of the Ethiopian flag were red, green, and yellow, so another addition was made, with four colours in total and the fourth colour is black.

I would like to conclude with this quote, as food for thought about the rastafarian culture: “Love the life you live live the life you love”.
