Pauly mon Cheri –

Its to you a letter must go today! It seems such a long time since I spent that happy day with you & Stef.[1] Yet ^it is not very long ago – but I’ve seen & done so much since.

I hope Stef showed you my letter written from this place? I am sending the good reports on to Daddy[2] today or tomorrow. I’m glad you explained ^to me about getting into your present form thro’ Mr Thomas’ kindness – I see that was the reason of his saying ‘travaillez’! I bought a French paper the other day, & the en--closed

It’s been dreadfully hot here – no doubt owing to our earth crossing the orbe of a comet, as according to this French paper it did last last week-end – The night ^of the 27th we expected to see a great fall of stars in consequence ^but it was v.wild & cloudy & there was rain, so in case bits of the comet did descend on Earth, we could not see them! Anyway since the 27th the weather I’m glad to say has got cooler.

There is a lovely swimming bath here, & Aunt Eves[3] goes there for a swim every day now, & I hope the healing water will part do her good – I’ve had a nasty cold, so the last 4 days have had no bath.

I like the remark opposite Physics in your report “He works v.hard & should do v.well. Takes pains with all his work”– I can see that Kitty is well pleased –

Has Stef given you the money yet? I sent 10/– extra to you both I was so pleased with the good reports.

I had a card from Henry[4] from Heidelberg. He was going to stay the night at an hotel, & was going to look up Professor [Goldschmidt?] – I hope he has found nice
