We have been learning to be Scientists

Success criteria:

  • Pose an inquiry question around plants

  • Create and and write an experiment to help find out

  • Make an hypothesis

  • Explain the importance of fair testing

  • Make observational notes

  • Label a diagram

  • Make conclusions

My comment:24/6

In science we compared leaves, celery and plants and found out what types they were.

We experimented with tissues wrapped around seeds and put them in a plastic bag Riya said plants need soil to grow so we did the experiment I just told you.

In another one we did an experiment in groups and our one was how do plants breathe oxygen.Firstly we started off writing about it. Two weeks later we started gathering up our ingredients to do it we needed :two bowls full of water one hot one cold two jars two plants two and pots full of soil. Now first things first so you have all your ingredients and you put your plant in the pot then you put one jar over then you do the same for the other one after that you put both of them in the bowls and put hot water in one and cold in the other.I learnt these words:radical, hypothesis, seed coat, food store.

Kelly’s comment:

You have been a keen scientist this term Sofina. You have learnt by exploring, experimenting, observing, comparing and contrasting and by researching and asking. You can experiment every day at home and school.
