Iproject Reflection

The prompt that I have chosen to answer is prompt 2: which is “Describe a problem you’ve solved or a problem you’d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.”

A problem that we faced for our Iproject was the inventory management for the MVPS resell. When we started the Iproject the clothes for the MVPS resell were underneath the stage in the founder's campus. It was a giant mess of clothes and racks underneath the stage going back around 10 feet. We could tell that this would be a huge problem that we would have to face the entirety of the Project. This took up the actual from the making the website, which is what we originally set out to do. To solve this problem we contacted many people including Coach Dehem and Steve Ray. We ended up using the Girls’ visitor's locker room until volleyball starts up again. This is significant because the solving of this problem transferred us from inventory management to making the website.

Another challenge that we faced was getting in contact with Mrs. Goldman, head of the parents association. We had to reach out to the parents association to see if they even wanted our help in the first place. We contacted Mrs. Goldman through email and see if she wanted our help. Thankfully she responded that she did want our help, but she had some concerns. We met up with her in the lower school lunchroom and talked about how she really needs help on inventory management before we start doing the website. The significance of this is that we overcame this problem and formed a connection with the parents association.

One other challenge we faced was actually presenting our Iproject. I was worried that we wouldn’t get a tv for our group and that no one would show up. Also, I was worried about presenting it because we have never done a presentation like this before. Once we got into presenting it got easier and easier every time and we got a tv. While kids that showed up didn’t seem too interested in our project the parents however really were. A lot of the parents and visiting people said that they would use it a lot and think it is a very well thought out Idea that has a possibility of being used by the school. The significance of this is that this experience will my Iproject for the next three years easier to do and present better.

Overall Iproject was a very positive experience that will make my future presentation better and be able to exemplify my learning easier in the future. I learned how to overcome hardships, like when we facilitated the problem with inventory management and moved the clothes to a better place, and how to express my ideas to more people than my peers.
