This is the premier initiation:  reading a book.  The horror!  Our shipmates are encouraged to earn a jump in rank, first class membership and full privileges by reading Atlas Shrugged, writing a one-page (50-250 words) reflection on it shared through one of our publications, and answering questions regarding it satisfactorily to the Captain or the Captain's designee(s).  Pretty simple, but proudly scholastic.
