Time Trial and Provincial Criterium Championships

Time Trial

The 20km individual time trial takes place Saturday July 15th, starting at 9:00am. This event will take place in Strathcona County South and West of Sherwood Park along Township Road 520. This is an out and back course.

Provincial Criterium Championships

The criterium will take place on Saturday July 15th, starting at 1:00 pm. This event will take place in Edmonton on the same course as the Velocity Stage Race criterium, but run in the opposite direction (counter clockwise).

Licensing

All riders must have either a current UCI or ABA license. For those who do not have a license, Single Event Day Licenses can be purchased during checkout on Zone 4 .

Notes from The Alberta Bicycle Association

Race Numbers

Each racer is assigned a Race Number to be used throughout the year.  All racers that have

already acquired their number must use it for this race.  Failing to bring your personal

race number to this event will result in a fine of $10 (CASH) to help cover the cost of a

replacement number.  There are no exceptions to this rule.  Make sure to check that you

have your numbers well before your start time.

Rider Conduct

Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated, including but not limited to public

urination, littering, use of profane language and verbal abuse of officials.

Anti-Doping Rule Violation

The ABA complies with and fully supports the UCI anti-doping regulations, the clauses of

the World Anti-Doping Code and its international standards to which the UCI anti-doping

regulations refer and to the anti-doping regulations of other competent bodies as per the

regulations of the UCI.

20km Individual Time Trial Details

52029 Range Rd 224, Sherwood Park, AB T8C 1B5

Course Description

This 20km time trial starts at the intersection of Township Road 520 and Range Road 224, proceeds East for 10km to the turn around point at RR 213 then back to the finish line at Range Road 224. There is a wide shoulder and the pavement is in very good condition. There is a modest elevation gain of 80m over the course of the 20km route.

Parking is available at the Olympiette Centre

License Check & Sign-In

License check & sign-in will open at 8:00am in the Olympiette Centre parking lot at the ABA Tent. If you have already been issued your 2017 race number, please remember to bring it

to this race. A $10 fee will be charged for replacement numbers (bring cash). License check and sign-in will end 20 minutes before your race start time. Please refer to the Start Times section above for all important times.

Race Schedule

The first rider will go off at 9:00am with subsequent riders starting at thirty second (0:30s) intervals. The final rider will go off at approximately 10:00am and complete the course before 10:30am. This should leave sufficient time for travel time from the Olympiette TT location to the South Edmonton Criterium.

Number Placement

Single jersey number centred on the lower back.

First Aid

Emergency services will be on site, located at the Olympiette Centre 52029 Range Rd 224, Sherwood Park, AB.

The nearest hospital is the Strathcona Community Hospital 9000 Emerald Dr, Sherwood Park, AB T8H 0J3.

In an emergency call 911.

Provincial Criterium Championships Details

This is the same course that was used for the 2017 Velocity Stage Race, but will be run in a counter clockwise direction

Parking and spaces for team tents is available in the Servus Credit Union parking lot

South Edmonton Farmers Market

The South Edmonton Farmers Market will be open in the parking lot adjacent to the race on Saturday. Please take advantage of the many vendors and food services that are available from the market.

Sign on information

Number Placement

Two jersey numbers and a frame plate.  Number placement on the jersey is on the left shoulder and lower back.

Wheel Pit

Wheel pit is located south of the start / finish area. It is the rider’s responsibility to supply wheels identified by your race number (Wheels in Wheels out). Riders may receive one free lap for a crash or mechanical difficulty only (not caused by negligent maintenance) you must report to the commissaire in the wheel pit.  Re-enter the race as instructed by the commissaires.  No free laps will be given in the last 3 laps of the race.  

First Aid

Emergency services will be on site, located at the corner of Karl Clark Rd and 17 Avenue NW. The nearest hospital is the Grey Nuns Community Hospital. Use 911 in an emergency.

Provincial Championship Awards

Provincial medals will be awarded in each category. Presentations for each race will be held at the start / finish area during the mustering for the next race.

Prizing

Prize money subject to change based on final number of registrations. In addition to cash prizing Provincial Championship medals will be awarded.
