Admiral Sir Roger Keyes, Bart., G.C.B., K.C.B., C.B. etc.
Admiralty House,
PORTSMOUTH.
13th April, 1931.
On June 1st an important collective Exhibition of my works will be officially opened at the famous Galeries Charpentier, rue Faubourg St. Honore, Paris, opposite the British Embassy.[1] Included in the collection will be pictures of mine sent from various countries, and I am endeavouring to obtain those which I hold in greatest favour. I should therefore be grateful if you would kindly give me the opportunity to include your portrait [5990], which I consider one of my outstanding works.[2]
All my pictures from England will be collected on May 18th and returned to their owners at the close of the Exhibition at the end of June, and all responsibility in regard to their packing and insurance, etc, will be borne by me.
I shall look forward to hearing from you at an early date and much hope you will kindly consent to my having your portrait, as I have to make arrangements for the Catalogue, to which Monsieur Camille Mauclair,[3] the famous French Art Critic, will write a preface.
