Performance Task 1
Group Presentation Rubric Explained
ROW 1: ESTABLISH ARGUMENT
- There is a coherent argument carried throughout the presentation
- The argument demonstrates the complexity of the problem
- Implications and limitations of a solution are proposed
- Claims are supported with evidence and linked to the overall argument (use attributive phrases when introducing evidence)
ROW 2: UNDERSTAND & ANALYZE CONTEXT
- The presentation offers a thorough evaluation of solutions by considering their implications and solutions
ROW 3: ENGAGE AUDIENCE
- The presentation slides are effectively designed (white slides with lots of text will score very low for this row)
- The presentation slides effectively contextualize & emphasize key information for the audience (don’t pack a lot of graphics or text onto the slides – one large picture, graph or chart should be all you have on each slide – keep text to a bare minimum)
ROW 4: ENGAGE AUDIENCE
- Presenters make use of delivery techniques such as eye contact, vocal variety, movement and energy. (you can’t just stand in front of the audience and deliver the presentation in a monotone – keep your hands out of your pockets!)
ROW 5: COLLABORATE
- There is evidence of collaboration among group members
- the presentation is cohesive.
- the transitions between speakers are effective (you should know who is speaking next and transition seamlessly – looking around nervously to figure out who is speaking next is very bad).
- the entire group is engaged in the presentation (no one looks bored, fidgety or distracted when they’re not speaking)
- Each member shows equal participation in the presentation and oral defense
ROW 6: REFLECT
- During the oral defense, your group answers questions with detailed answers supported by relevant and specific evidence about the team’s work. Each person will answer one question.
