What's Fonzi?
How Fonzi Works
We work with 100+ startups all looking to hire software engineers (NYC & SF based). Via a web app + humans in the loop they are recommended engineers that match what they’re looking for. Accepted matches are sent interview requests with salary bids upfront and engineers accept, reject or follow up.
To date over 3200 interview requests have been sent. We're currently averaging about 150 weekly.
Average salary bids are $207K with highs of $400K. This is experience dependent + depends on the companies themselves. Usually later stage companies have higher salaries and earlier stage companies have higher equity offers.
We are basically a tech enabled recruiting agency / talent marketplace / recruiting software company.
Asks you how interviews went, answers questions you have about who Fonzi works with and lets you signal interest in them.
Recommends you to companies you're a good fit for. Helps you understand who you should talk to that might not be on your radar already.
We have an iMessage agent you can text at 646-236-3745 or http://fonzi.ai/text
And a web experience at https://talent.fonzi.ai/
Startups you know are using Fonzi to hire software engineers.
Because companies receive hundreds / thousands of applications they have a low likelihood of reviewing them. As you probably know referrals are very valuable but your friend may only be able to refer you to a company or two.
With Fonzi you are effectively being referred to companies with my badge of approval.
In the last couple months I've screened 89,000 open to work profiles and accepted 0.1%. I’ve also processed ~5 million Linkedin profiles + 300,000 X accounts to discern who would be a good fit for our clients.
If you get approved you’re in a cohort of engineers that gets taken way more seriously than any application would.
We look at our calls with hiring managers, recruiters and engineers from client companies which creates signals that drive our recommendations system.
We also look at who they view on the platform, who they send interview requests to, who makes it far in the interview process and create look-a-likes.
The goal with Fonzi as a long-term, persistent talent agent is that as you chat with it and tell it about the cool things you’re building, it quietly works in the background to unlock new introductions to companies.
Say you’re interested in talking to Cursor but you’re not quite at that level yet. You keep shipping and updating Fonzi on what you’re doing. Eventually, you’ll hit an inflection point where it makes sense to open that door and that’s when we’ll make the intro.
This is equally valuable for companies, because they get right‑on‑time access to talent before the rest of the market.
On catching talent right before they get where you want them to be.
