Dear Rt. Hon. Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP,

I am writing regarding the future of Brixton Hill Studios which has come to my attention as being under threat of unsustainable rent rises in the borough. The studio has been a constant in the music and performing arts community in the local area for the last 10 years and I have come to rely on it as a safe space to develop my musical practise.

I am hoping that by writing to you and highlighting their plight that you might be able to offer your support and guidance in helping the studios to retain their home until a suitable venue is found for them so they can continue providing a much needed service to the community. With under 4 months until their lease ends it does not give them very much time in which to relocate and rebuild.

The studio has provided support to multiple musical organisations in the area including The Windmill music venue and Grounded Sounds (formerly School Ground Sounds). They have been responsible for putting on local gigs and opening up opportunities for musicians locally. But more importantly they have provided a home for the many musicians and performance artists that come from and indeed migrate towards Brixton that contribute to the rich cultural heritage of the area.

Kind regards,
