Spanish 2.2
Spanish 2.2 is a course designed to teach Spanish on an ACTFL Novice High level. English information and directions form much of the course.
By the end of this course, students will be able to speak memorized phrases they need to communicate in another culture, provide basic information about themselves, and ask simple questions. Their focus is on recycling known vocabulary as they learn new concepts. Using the language alphabet, they can write familiar words and phrases as lists and incomplete sentences and fill out basic forms with biographical information. They write in primarily present tense. Students will listen for contextual words and can comprehend one sentence construction. Students will practice reading words and phrases from the simplest connected texts, knowing there will be frequent miscommunication.
Content in the course includes directions, medical terms, sports and outdoor activities, travel and computers. Students study the near future, the imperfect and past tense. Students understand and use adjectives, imperative, and negative expressions.
Expectations for the student include completing writing and speaking assessments using video, active engagement in their own learning, practicing vocabulary over time, comprehending grammar patterns, using various forms of verbs, participating in simple conversations and speaking prompts, analyzing and comparing cultural products, practices and perspectives of Puerto Rico.
