New Classroom Technology / Educator Laptops

We kicked off our Classroom Technology Upgrade project at Braefoot Elementary School last week. A big thank you to the staff at Braefoot for being our pilot. The ITL team distributed new laptops to all teaching staff (including those on temporary contracts), installed new improved monitors and a USB hub docking station in every classroom, and then removed the old classroom PC to be decommissioned. The school office also received a pool of laptops to sign out for TTOCs as required.

The upgrade went very smoothly, and we are now finalizing the technology upgrades for the Library/Learning Commons spaces, and other computer access needs in schools such as communal PCs for school staff.  We will then communicate the schedule to schools.

Reporting and Assessment Tools + Reference Material

CSL, MyEd, Parent Connect...how do these tools interact in our school district and what are they used for? If your understanding of this landscape is Emerging, please read on...

We have broken down our reporting landscape on this webpage. Whether you are at elementary, middle, or secondary school, take a moment to review the tools for reporting and assessment moving forward.

On this page you can also find GVSD’s Reporting and Assessment Guidelines.

TECH TIPS

TechForLearning

“My computer won’t turn on!” “I would like support creating a digital portfolio!” “Is this app approved for use in our schools?” “Bill Gates wants me to phone him immediately because he said he has an important task for me to complete urgently!” (News Flash: this is spam. Don’t call Bill.  Forward the email to spam@sd61.bc.ca and delete it).

TechForLearning is a GVSD website specifically designed to support technology-related questions specific to our school district.  It is the one-stop shop for information, tech tips, and to get help with technology issues you may have.  We encourage all staff to start at techforlearning.sd61.bc.ca when you have questions related to technology.  From here, you can use the search bar to find information about a particular topic, submit a HelpDesk ticket for targeted support, or book an appointment with HelpDesk staff at the Board Office.  We are always open to feedback so content can be tailored to your needs. If you have a suggestion...you know what’s coming...go to techforlearning.sd61.bc.ca and click the orange button. For those times when you are on the go, you can also email helpdesk@sd61.bc.ca and a ticket will be automatically created for you.
