Dear Parents / Carers,

I am delighted that your child has decided to continue their studies at John Henry Newman Catholic College Sixth Form. Whether they studied here from year 7-11 or have decided to join us from elsewhere, they will all receive a very warm welcome and I look forward to working with each and everyone of them over the course of their Sixth Form studies. We recently celebrated record results from our year 13 cohort, so please rest assured that your child is joining a sixth form that will provide them with the opportunity to excel. It was a privilege to be here on results day and share in the joy as our students received the results that enabled them to access the next stage of their journey, whether it be university, apprenticeships or the world of work. 86% of students were accepted at their first choice university and we are particularly  proud that we will have students who are going on to study at Cambridge University, as well as a number embarking upon degrees in Medicine.

The success outlined above doesn’t come by chance, we have the highest of expectations of our young people and our staff work tirelessly to support all students on their academic journey. It is also notable that this success is most likely to be achieved when we work closely together with parents and carers. As a result of this I would like to invite you to attend our “Sixth Form Supporting Success Evening” on Tuesday 10th September 5pm - 6pm. The Sixth Form team will be there to outline key information about Sixth Form, the challenges that they will face and how you as a parent / carer can best support this process. We will also be available to answer any questions that you may have.

I look forward to seeing many of you on the 12th September and trust that we will have many more success stories to share in the near future.
