Hello SkyView,

There are only two more school days until Graduation. The Class of 2017, our third class of graduates at SkyView, will walk their final walk in our halls this saturday and head off into college and life.  Oh the places they will go! We are so proud of our 52 Seniors! They have raised the bar once again on why students need to choose SkyView.  We wish them well and welcome them back, anytime, as alumna of SkyView Academy. Go forth and explore ladies and gentlemen.

As summer approaches for our students, we want to encourage them to never stop reading, learning, wondering, or enjoying all that life has to offer. Farewell to this school year and best wishes for a wonderful summer. As a reminder, the 2017-2018 school starts for 9th and 6th graders on August 9 and the rest of the student body on August 10. Principals and our office team will be sending updates throughout the summer on events, materials, and supplies and any other important information for a successful start. Please stay tuned to our website and look for emails with updates throughout the summer.

All the best,

   Mr. Barrett :)

SAAC Parent Satisfaction Survey Results

Your SAAC (School Academic Advisory Committee) thanks our 638 parents who completed the satisfaction survey and made time to share their feedback with us. We saw an increase of almost 42% in responses over last year! The information was very insightful, and after sharing an overview with the Board and School Leadership during the May 17 Board meeting, we wanted to make sure all of our families have access to the presentation. SAAC PPT Presentation of Survey Results

Overall, results were very good. Our families feel their students are learning, happy, SVA cares about their well being, develops character and would recommend our school others. Instruction and curriculum were just a few of the areas ranked “very strong or strong” in agreement. Areas for growth remain the same from the 2015-2016 school year and include topics such as technology, electives, honors/AP, volunteering, and homework.

Please look for communication throughout the upcoming school year on how our Leadership Team  is addressing various topics and continuing to model life-long learning and improving what is already a great foundation at SkyView.

Thank you,

The SVA SAAC

New Website Tips

New Website Tips

Our last month of school will be dedicated to mapping out our 2017-2018 school communications strategy. This summer we will be updating our SkyView website, calendars, google classrooms and parent app.

We want to thank everyone for their patience, support and feedback this school year. We continue to work towards a goal of creating a streamlined communication solution for our families – simplifying the amount of information we share, when and how we share it.

If you have any suggestions you’d like to submit to our planning team, please email Jennifer Larson at jlarson@hivedm.com. We’ll continue working with her team on our school communications plan for next year.

Assessment & Testing - Assessment Update

SAT and PSAT scores will be available to students on the College Board website beginning May 17 for those students who took the tests on April 11.

Please click here for information on accessing test scores.

Here is a link to the CDE parent resource page.  There is helpful information for parents concerning the PARCC and CMAS testing. http://www.cde.state.co.us/communications/resourcesforparents

Hawk Shop

Last day for the Hawk Shop will be Thursday, May 18th.

BEEP BEEP

What can we say other than THANK YOU!! Volunteers help make our carline successful every single day.  Without YOU standing out in the sun, wind, snow, rain or whatever crazy Colorado weather comes our way, we would not be able to get through the massive amount of vehicles and allow our students to enter and exit safely.  We are eternally grateful.

KING SOOPERS

Keep reloading and using your King Soopers cards over the summer to get a head start on your volunteer hours for next year!  These reloadable gift cards can earn you volunteer hours while helping the school raise funds!  Simply, take the gift card you purchased in the Hawk Shop to any customer service counter at a King Soopers and use a personal credit card to put any amount of money on the gift card. Keep this gift card and through the year the individual can repeatedly add more funds to the card and use it when they want.  King Soopers tracks these cards and then SkyView Academy receives a percentage back on what is spent at the store using these cards. The volunteer coordinator receives a monthly list of the card owners who have added funds and will log volunteer hours for those people.

Elementary Parent Connection

Stay CONNECTED over the summer…..We've had a great response from Elementary (Pre-K through 5th) parents to the "Parent Connection." If you have not already 'opted-in' by e-mailing your grade's Parent Connection lead, please email Katie Bishop @ k2rikes@gmail.com with your child's name, grade and teacher. Katie will add you to your grade's Parent Connection group so that you can be included in events over the summer. Since we are a “commuter” school, often times it is difficult to get to know other parents so we want to make it easier.  This is also a great way to plan playdates, find sports teams, camps, etc. to connect kids outside of school.
