Dear Roxbury Families and Solon Schools Community,
We are pleased to share excellent progress on the Roxbury environmental response.
The east and south wings of Roxbury are now completely cleared and open for staff access to educational materials. This achievement follows the comprehensive environmental cleaning process that included HEPA vacuuming of carpets and thorough cleaning of all surfaces in these unaffected areas. All testing in the east and south wings has met the clearance criteria, confirming these areas are safe for access.
Our teachers and media center staff have been retrieving instructional materials from their classrooms to enhance their temporary learning spaces at Parkside Church. In addition, the Roxbury PTA has been able to enter the building to retrieve recess equipment and as well as materials to support their upcoming programming.
These are exciting steps on the road to reopening Roxbury.
North Wing Abatement Underway
Abatement work began in the north wing spaces this week. The expert work team is following all standard protocols for asbestos abatement as outlined in the plan submitted to the Ohio EPA. Replacement materials and furnishings have already been ordered for the classrooms and learning spaces in the north wing. The arrival of these materials will, in large part, determine the actual reopening date for the school. Just like in the east and south wings, the north wing will be fully tested and must pass the clearance criteria prior to the school reopening.
We will continue to provide regular updates as this important work progresses. Thank you for your continued support and patience.
