Principal’s What’s Up
I encourage you to plan to attend the workshop offered in the first week of Term 2 by our local school’s cluster.
John Parsons is an Internet Safety and Risk Assessment Consultant who delivers cyber security training workshops to New Zealand Police and government sector organisations. John also works with the Education sector, delivering workshops to increase protection against Internet-based threats. His focus is child protection. He works with families and young people to safeguard against predatory adults across digital networks. This is the kind of thing you need to know about and what challenges your child may be facing in an online environment. It would be great to see a good representation of Springston parents there.
Thank you everyone for a great term and for all your support. I was disappointed to only have 7 parents turn up at the PTA meeting this week. We need more than that to support our school activities, so hopefully we’ll see more people next term.
Thank you to Andy Phillipson for his leadership of the group over the past year. Chandra Harrison and Melissa Brooks have taken up the joint Chair of the PTA group, so we look forward to their leadership and supporting them in their new role.
Have a fantastic break with your families over the holidays and we will see you all back safe and well rested on Monday 2nd May.

New Board takes office
Look out today for notices coming home. You should receive notices for the Board of Trustees Election, a PTA fundraiser for the Entertainment Book and an order form for a Year 7 and 8 fundraiser for Talbot Cheese.
Hi my name is Lucy Cahill, and I’m a 14 year old student from Villa Maria College. I am the eldest child of four children. I have had plenty of experience babysitting.
I am also happy to cook and do household jobs!

Now is the time to have a clean out of school uniform your child/ren have grown out of, parcel it up and price for the school secondhand uniform shop. The PTA will sell this clothing on your behalf and take a 20% commission on sales. At the moment we are looking for size 8 -12 winter culottes. The secondhand uniform shop is open Tuesdays 8:30-9:30am and Thursdays 3:00- 3:30pm.
Also a reminder: If you are buying new winter shoes for your child, they need to be black, brown or blue solid school shoes. They will be more waterproof during the winter months.
