Why is there a membership/non-membership option for the year 2016-2017?

Everyone likes to have options, so we are offering two options for students this year.  No matter which option you choose, every student at Define Dance will receive equal attention in the classroom.  We want to give all of our students the best class training experience to enhance the student’s  skills and technique at every stage.  

  1. All-Inclusive Member tuition pricing is for students who register for the 2016-2017 dance year with the commitment to participate in the annual dance recital at the end of the dance year.   The 2016-2017 year begins Aug 1 and ends with the annual recital, tentatively set for June 3, 2017.  

  1. Non-Member tuition pricing  This option is for students who only want to take classes, without any further commitment.    We feel students receive the best experience of a performing arts program by enrolling in the full year, and participating in the annual recital, but we understand that not everyone will want to make that decision.

Please Tell Me more about the All-Inclusive Membership Pricing.

We are taking the estimated cost of everything needed to bring our students a wonderful dance experience and bundling the cost into a convenient monthly payment package  Every month in the enrolled tuition year will be averaged to the same cost.  This all inclusive packaging allows our dance families to have a more efficient budget friendly dance year.  

What is included in the All-Inclusive Membership Packaging?

           *Registration for 2016-2017 year   *Monthly Tuition with no increase from 2015-2016 year.

           *2 Studio T-Shirts (recital shirt is separate).

           *Recital Costume per every class enrolled, performance tights,garment bag (we will take      

             Care of the orders for all costumes)

           *Recital package that includes, tickets for family members living in student’s household,

             Recital t-shirt, commemorative dance medal, online digital access to recital, and

             one recital DVD (extra cost to more than one show).

What isn’t included in the All- Inclusive package?

           *Class dance attire/dance shoes

           *Additional Logo wear besides the membership t-shirts

            *Dance Company Membership Costs (monthly fee, competition entries, company attire)

            *Dance Photography

            *Daddy-Daughter recital participants

Additional Information to note:

            * *No money already paid and accounted for will be reimbursed if student is unable to

            fulfill the membership year.

What about the Non-Membership option?

     

           

            *Registration and Tuition costs are set up differently than a membership cost.  

            *Non-members are only paying for registration and class instruction.  

            *Non-members receive the same class training as members.  

            *No other fees will be  transacted on the account, unless studio merchandise is

              purchased.

            *Non-members may choose to become members during the year if studio receives

              Sufficient notification in time for a student to be able to participate in the recital,

              Usually no later than February.

             *Changing Membership will result in fewer months to bundle the Membership package.

             

What does the 2016-2017 studio calendar year look like?

         The 2016-2017 year begins the week of August 1 and ends the week of May 22-27.

         Recital 2017 is tentatively set for June 3.  May 29-June 3 is Recital Prep and Recital.  

         Regular scheduled classes will end the week of May 22-27. 

         

         No Classes:          September 5                         Labor Day

                                        December  19-Jan 2             Christmas Holidays

                                        March 13-18                           Spring Break

ALL-INCLUSIVE Membership Tuition Rates for 2016-2017 Dance Year

                                       

         Class weeks will vary between 3-5 weeks each month.    This has already been taken in

         consideration, and will not affect the monthly tuition rate.  We do not charge less, or more

         Each month. Tuition rates account for the whole dance year, August-May, and have been      

         Equally divided between the months, making it more budget friendly.  

         *Rates are based on 1 enrolled student.  $10 per month, per additional student, will be

         added to the monthly tuition payment. For example- 1 additional enrolled students will

         cost an additional $10 each month.  2 additional students will cost an additional $20 per

         month.

         *The rates listed are based on enrollment beginning week of Aug 1.  In August,

         The membership package will be divided equally for 10 months.  If enrollment begins

         In September,  there will be 9 months to divide the package. If student enrolls in

         October, there will be 8 equal months, etc.  Fewer months to divide the

         membership  package will result In a higher package cost each month, simply

         because there are fewer months to divide up the Membership package.    We reserve the

         right to not share itemized pricing due to the packaging at one special rate.  We will not

         Split apart any of the package cost.

         

          *Class Levels that meet two or three times per week are counted as a class each time

         They meet, but $$ costume adjustments will be made due to costume  requirements.

          Ballet Levels 3-6 meet multiple times per week, but will only require one costume.

When are payments due?

Payments are due the 25th of the month prior to the tuition month. For example, Aug 25 will be the payment for September tuition.   At the start of the dance year, the first tuition amount is due upon class enrollment.   We accept credit or check payments.  We will no longer accept any cash payments.    The overall best payment method is to have a credit card listed on account to be auto transacted.  Everyone is busy, so other methods of payment tend to arrive late.  A late fee of $25 will be posted to the accounts if tuition is unpaid by the 4th of the month.  

What are your make-up policies?

We understand that a student will miss a class, or two during the year.  We will allow a make-up class if a similar class is available, but it is not guaranteed.  As the year end recital draws nearer, it is harder to provide a make-up class due to performance practice.

Weather:  It is rare for us to cancel classes because of weather, but we have the occasional ice and flooding.  We follow the school closing announcements, but we will also email and post updates on facebook.   If classes are canceled because of weather, we will ask you to make-up in another class, or will provide a make-up day.  Classes will not be given a credit.    

If we cancel classes due to being out of town, or illness, we will provide a make-up alternative, or credit your account.  

What if I need to withdraw from a class?

We would like to discuss the withdrawal situation so that we may offer a different solution.  

A two week written notice must be given before withdrawing.  No money already credited to your account will be refunded.  

Do you offer private lessons?

Each teacher has their own availability and pricing.  The studio fee is $25 for an hour.  Please let us know if you would like to schedule a private with one of the instructors.
