“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” (C.K. Chesterson) This is a perfect reflection of what I have experienced as Superintendent in Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union. Every day, I am moved and inspired. As we celebrate our first year as a unified school system, following district and supervisory union unification resulting from Act 46, I marvel at the incredible devotion of our staff and their unique ability to teach and inspire our children. I celebrate the amazing support of our parents and community. During this time of Thanksgiving, I want to share my gratitude and thank you for being such an important part of our children’s lives.
I believe that helping children succeed is one of the most important things any of us can do. That is why I am so grateful to the employees of Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union. They dedicate their lives to serving our children. They take each child’s success personally. They spend hours before and after school doing the extra things that few people see but that make all the difference for the children they teach. I see their passion when I visit classrooms. I see the joy of our children, and I hear gratitude from parents who appreciate the dedication and commitment that our staff members have for their children.
We are so fortunate to have the strong support of our businesses and civic organizations. They provide volunteers, classroom resources, school supplies, internships, and recognition for our teachers and students. Their generosity allows us to offer more opportunities to our children and they are a critical part of our success.
Our Boards of Education truly care about children, and they support our staff and students. They are compassionate leaders who value public education. I feel honored to work with them, and I am grateful for their service.
The strength of Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union lies in the people we employ and the students and communities we serve. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Superintendent of Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union and to be part of the GRCSU family. Thank you for all that you do, and I wish you and your family a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
Enacting our vision and mission, together, we have an exciting and dynamic road ahead.
Yours in Education,
Debra Taylor, Ph.D.
