ELITE MEN’S AND ELITE WOMEN’S CRCA BOYD CUP & TEAM CUP SCORING
The Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s CRCA Boyd Cup is the highest honor awarded to CRCA racing members based on a season long points competition across a variety of courses and formats. The CRCA Elite Team Cup is awarded on a similar basis to the most successful CRCA sub-teams across a similar subset of races.
- All club and open races are included in scoring for the Jim Boyd Cup and Team Cup Awards unless otherwise specified on the CRCA Racing Calendar. CRCA members will be scored separately for the Open Races. All Open Races (including a TT to be announced) are worth double points.
- Boyd Cup and Team Cup points are awarded as follows, for Club Races places 1st-7th: 10, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Open races receive double points and so the total is as follows for places 1st-7th: 20, 14, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2. As stated the Open Races will feature separate scoring for CRCA members.
- For the Team Cup, teams score points for their top two riders only. If additional riders from a team place, the points for those places are not counted toward calculating the Team Cup points.
- The Team Cup will also include points from a Team Time Trial, if any, to be held as part of a CRCA affiliated time trial, if any, to be announced. CRCA members will be scored separately at any such competition and points will be awarded on an Open Race basis.
- Only full SEASON PASS/RACING club members may score points for either competition. Associate members participating in open races cannot score points.
- The champion for each competition will be the individual / team with the most points at the conclusion of the season. In the case of a tie, finishing position at the Club Race finale on August 30th will determine the winner (for the team cup highest individual placing at that race will determine the winner).
ELITE MEN’S AND ELITE WOMEN’S CRCA SPRINTERS CUP COMPETITION SCORING
The CRCA Sprinters Cup is a new award for 2015 that will be awarded to the CRCA racing member who is the most successful and consistent sprinter across a variety of intermediate and finishing sprints at the four CRCA Club Points races as well as the CRCA Grant’s Tomb Criterium and the CRCA Orchard Beach Criterium.
- Points will be awarded at intermediate and finishing sprints across at five races:
- 3 CRCA Club Points races (refer to the CRCA Calendar for dates)
- 1 CRCA Club Power Points race (refer to the CRCA calendar for the date)
- CRCA Grant’s Tomb Criterium
- CRCA Orchard Beach Criterium
- Points at the Club Races will be awarded as described on the CRCA Race Schedule: three deep at all intermediate sprints, five deep in the finishing sprint.
- At Grant’s Tomb and Orchard Beach there will be intermediate sprint primes in both the Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s field, with points awarded to the top 3 riders as follows: 12, 8, 4. The finishing sprint at each race will be five deep with points awarded as follows: 18, 12, 8, 4, 2. Please note that CRCA members will NOT be scored separately for points at the Open Races.
MASTER’S CRCA BOYD AND CRCA TEAM CUP SCORING
The Master’s Boyd and Team Cups are a new addition for the 2015 CRCA season and will include a total of seven races, including both Club and Open races. The winners of the Master’s CRCA Boyd Cup and CRCA Team Cup will be presented with awards at the End of Season Party
- To avoid confusion, the Master’s Boyd Cup and Team Cup will be scored using the same points system described above for the Men’s and Women’s Boyd Cup and Team Cup.
- The races included in the Master’s competitions will include: all open races featuring an M40+ field, as well as the M35+ Master’s field at Bear Mountain (lower age cut off reflects NYS Road Race Championship Categories), all of the club race M40+ fields in Central Park and a CRCA affiliated Time Trial to be announced - for 2015 this will be the Silvermine TT.
B-FIELD (M4) CRCA TEAM CUP SCORING
The B-Field Team Cup is awarded on the same basis as the Elite Men’s and Women’s Team Cups, but for the B/M4 fields.
- Scoring is done on the same basis as the Elite Men’s and Women’s Team Cup, with the same races included in the competition.
- For Open Races points will be scored in the M4 field. If no M4 field is offered points will instead be scored in the M4/5 field. For Club Races points will only be scored in the B field.
SUSPENDED RIDERS AND COMPETITION DISQUALIFICATION
As per the marshaling policy, any sub team with a member from any CRCA race category on the Suspended Marshals list will not be able to score Boyd Cup or Team Cup Points. This goes for the current race and any future ones until the suspension is cleared. If any sub team has three members on the Suspended marshals List then the whole team will not be allowed to race any CRCA races until such time as all suspensions and extra marshaling duty is cleared. It is the responsibility of the designated Team Managers to monitor the suspended list, which is published on the CRCA website and updated after each race.
In addition, any DQ’s before, during and after the race - for recreation lane violations, riding on walking paths in Central Parks, foul language or any other prohibited behavior - may be grounds to disqualify the entire team in question from earning points from any of the CRCA competitions at the sole discretion of the CRCA Board of Directors.
In order to earn points in any CRCA competition, all team members must also be in approved CRCA apparel with appropriate CRCA branding as per the sub-team guidelines.
