Microhouse Building Workshops - Introduction

Are you interested in being part of the cutting-edge, open-source, sustainability movement?

Have you dreamed of building your own home, but just aren't sure exactly how to get started?

Are you interested in collaborating in an empowering experience with other, like-minded people?

Do you want to be part of a bold experiment that will teach you to build your own cutting-edge house and also provide important keys to solving housing problems throughout the world?

Open Source Ecology is creating ways for people to empower themselves to create the things they need, like housing. We can help you begin manifesting your dreams.

It is possible for a group of inexperienced builders to come together and create something beautiful. All that's needed is a robust design for the building and workflow along with proper leadership, and our prototype process has proven wildly successful. We are taking the successful experience of Microhouse 1 build and structuring it as an educational workshop. The opportunity is now available attend one of our workshops and to receive expert guidance on how to build your own Microhouse. We are also looking for workshop hosts, that can help us spread empowerment to others while building the hosts’ own beautiful home at the same time. Hosts provide camping and food for workshop participants, and pay for the materials and consumables of construction, and Open Source Ecology’s experts provide the education and leadership to guide the team in building the host’s Microhouse.

During our 7-day Microhouse 101 workshop, we are able to complete the majority of the work on a basic Microhouse. Participants leave ready to begin their own projects, and hosts only have a small amount of finish work to complete.

If you are interested in collaborating with us on this bold experiment, either as a participant or a host, contact architecture@opensourceecology.org for more details. Together, we are building social capital to create a more resilient, sustainable future, and having a great time in the process!
