Other Resources | Summer 2017 Jo Boaler online teacher professional development course called Mathematical Mindsets. You can register here for enrollment notification. Mathematical Mindsets is a professional program to train teachers to teach mathematics for a growth mindset to students of any age (K-16). This course is completely different from How to Learn Mathematics (HTLM). HTLM provides the background and basic information for teachers to understand the need for mindset mathematics teaching, Mathematical Mindsets shows teachers how to teach in these ways. it is recommended that teachers first take How to Learn Mathematics and then Mathematical Mindsets.

This toolkit provides state-level data about the difficulty levels of the mathematics benchmarks and a suggested process for using this state data along with school and district benchmark reports to help educators identify concerns and areas for improvement. 2016-17 MATH LEADERS MEETINGS! Meetings provide support for leaders, and include sharing and celebrating what is working, and interactive learning with leaders from the Network. Administrators and teacher leaders who are passionate about leading change in mathematics education for all students are encouraged to attend. The 2016-17 focus is Interventions in Mathematics with a content focus of rational numbers. We will use the book Mathematical Mindsets: Unleashing Students' Potential through Creative Math, Inspiring Messages and Innovative Teaching. Boaler, J. (2015). Though you are not required to purchase this book, it is highly recommended and will be referred to in the networking meetings. All meetings are from 8:30-11:30am at MDE, Conference Center A, Room 15-16. Meetings are free, but registration is required. Register for each meeting here! 2016-17 MATHEMATICS TEACHER WEBINARS! In partnership with the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM), MDE is offering webinars designed specifically for K-12 mathematics teachers. Content will include a brief update followed by a presentation by Minnesota math teachers. The webinar is offered from 2:45-3:30 p.m. and again from 3:45-4:30 p.m. Register for each webinar here!
