In the poem Alone the author talks about being alone and having no support from friends or family. I think this poem was written when the author felt alone and nobody understood what she was going through. There is a line in the poem that I think is very important. “There are some millionaires. With money they can't use” They were saying that people can be rich but they might not be happy, because you can’t buy friends or support with money. I think the author wrote this poem with experience and the author is trying to let the reader know what she has gone through and want to let the readers have faith that they are going to make it through whatever problems they have. This line is the main thing in this poem. “I came up with one thing And I don't believe I'm wrong That nobody, But nobody. Can make it out here alone.” When the author said “I don’t believe I’m wrong” she is trying to relate to the audience and say that she is going through problems of her own so the reader won’t be alone. Another point that I think the author is trying to point out, is that if you're alone with no friends and, no support then it’s really hard to be happy.
In the poem Evening Stars the author talks about his love that passed away, and how much he misses her he describes her with the sky. They have a connection that he feels like she is in the sky and the can see her. The line where he first talks about the sky and the normal things. “And mid-time of night. And stars, in their orbits, Shone pale, thro' the light.” The author is talking about the normal things he sees in the sky. The stars, moon, light, but then he starts to use these things to compare to his love ones. This line the author starts to talk about the love ones more. “Herself in the Heavens, Her beam on the waves. I gazed awhile. On her cold smile.” The author says “her cold smile” so the author is imagining her in the sky in the heavens. I think the reason why the author uses the sky to compare is because the heavens is in the sky and the author think his love ones that died are up in the sky.
