- Ask the the children what animals we been talking about.
- Have the children identify them.
- Lead children to note that there are many ways animals are alike. (They all live on a farm)
- Tell the many ways they are different. (Some have two legs and some have four legs)
- Have the children describe the animals.
- Compare the characters in “The Lion and the Unicorn.”
- Ask: What creatures are mentioned in the rhyme? How are the creatures the alike? How are the creatures different?
- Experiment with the keyboard of a piano to compare the different sounds a the keyboard make.
- Compare sounds.
- Distribute Activity P. 27.
- Have the children identify the animals on page 27.
- Remind children that they have been comparing animals by their characteristics.
- Have the children compare two animals.
- Ask: What animals are we going to compare? How are they alike? How are they different?
