Kevin Croff, Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The Bitterroot Elementary school intermediate report card will not include a separate library grade. We are concentrating on creating a more holistic use of the library.

The library curriculum (including research skills, book selection, author studies, use of on line catalog, etc.) continues to be taught in library.  Rather than as a stand-alone subject, every attempt is made to tie the lessons to a classroom experience.  With the ultimate goal of creating lifelong, competent library users, this type of library class models the real world use of libraries.

Grades listed in a subject area may have a library note.  Students are held responsible for any work done in library class.  The work is then included with the subject area to which it was tied. Students are responsible for checking the absent/missing folder if they miss a class or have misplaced something.

I am pleased with the opportunity to provide engaging and meaningful library lessons, which directly support classroom instruction and student learning.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
