NEWSLETTER 9 18th November 2016
From the Headteacher
I would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who bought poppies and other items in the weeks before Remembrance Day. We haven’t yet heard the official amount raised, but from feeling the weight of the collection jar I am sure it will be a lot - thank you for donating to this excellent cause!
This week saw the launch of Anti Bullying Week and we will be talking about this during assemblies this week and next week. Each year we review the School’s Behaviour Policy and the Anti Bullying Policy to ensure it is working and that it is in line with County recommendations, both are available on the School website for parents to review.
We also discuss e-safety with children and our scheme of work and policy are available on the school website. At school we have filters in place to stop any unwanted content and we have rules in place when using the computers or chromebooks. At home it is often a different matter, so I have attached a leaflet for parents to read so you can reflect on how your child uses the internet at home. One way to ensure they are accessing child friendly content is to use RM Unify or the pupil links on the website. There is also a safe search engine which will help filter unwanted content.
Village Hall Parking
Please ensure that you drive and park considerately when dropping off/collecting your child, I have had reports of a couple of ‘near-misses’ involving cars and children this past week which is clearly unacceptable.
Cars parking along the hedge on the left hand side of the car park entranceway further reduces access and causes additional congestion when there are often spaces available towards the rear of the car park.
This becomes more of a hazard with the days getting shorter and your co-operation would be greatly appreciated.
From the PTA
The Christmas Gift & Craft Fair will be taking place in the school and village hall this Sunday, 20th November,
11:00-15:30. Come and start your Christmas shopping, choosing from a unique range of high-quality
and hand-crafted gifts for the whole family. Visit Santa in his grotto, make Christmas cards and
decorations in the kids’ craft room, and enjoy delicious refreshments, served throughout the day.
Entry £1 for adults, children free.
We look forward to seeing many of you there!
Notices and Letters
If you would like your child to attend either KS1 or KS2 lunchtime French classes please contact Audrey Lawson on 07530 454 592 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
We have been notified of a case of threadworms in school, please keep an eye out for symptoms and ensure that your child washes their hands often, especially after visiting the toilet - more information on symptoms and treatment can be found on the NHS website
You are warmly invited to come and browse our Book Fair in the entrance hall every day after school from Tuesday 29th November until Monday 5th December. There are over 200 titles for you and your child to choose from, and with prices starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone. The Book Fair is a great way to boost your child's enthusiasm for reading and to develop their reading choices. Every book you buy can help to get FREE BOOKS for our school library so your support is much appreciated.
Please see information sent home today about our book review competition - entries from all pupils welcome!
Could you spare an after school slot 3-4pm to help with the Book Fair? Helpers would need to take money and maintain a list of sales - your child is welcome to help too! If you can spare some time to help our school, please email the office email@example.com.
