Dearly respected Maestro,

We were honoured and grateful to receive your letter, in which you kindly informed us that you were pleased to agree to be a patron of our ball. Many thanks, too, for the enclosed twenty English pounds, which we have given to the Rector’s office of the Hungarian Royal National College of Art, to be put towards the students’ mess.

We are pleased to be able to say that the artists’ costume ball, which was held on the 4th of this month,

and which was more or less a re-creation of the old-style Hungarian artists’ costume balls, was a great moral and financial success, despite the difficult circumstances that prevail today in Hungary, in society and in the sphere of the arts, and that thanks to the generous donations from the friends of Hungarian art we have been able to make a significant contribution to the students’ mess budget.

We reiterate our thanks to all those who contributed to the success of our event, but among them we must reserve a sp-

ecial place for your own name, honoured Maestro, for sending us what you did, by post, thus once again assuring us that, even from this great distance, we may look upon our Maestro as a constant and fervent supporter of the young generation of Hungarian artists and we ask you to continue to hold firm to the love and friendship you feel towards the striving young people of our homeland which has suffered so many cruel blows.

Mélyen Tisztelt Mester,

Hálás köszönettel vettük kitüntető levelét, melyben volt szíves értesíteni bennünket, hogy bálunk védnökségét elfogadni kegyeskedett; tisztelettel nyugtázzuk továbbá a csatolt husz angol font vételét, melyet az Orsz. Magy. Kir. Képzőművészeti Főiskola Rektori hivatalánál az Ifjúsági Mensa javára leszámoltunk.

Actiónk befejezéseül bátorkodunk még megjegyezni, hogy a f. hó 4-ére lezajlott jelme-

zes képzőművész bál, amely quasi a régi magyar jelmezes művész bálok reorganizálása volt, a mai nehéz magyar művészeti és társadalmi viszonyuk ellenére is meghozta a teljes erkölcsi és anyagi sikert, úgy, hogy a magyar művészet barátainak áldozatkész adományozása révén sikerült a Főiskola Mensájának néhány havi budgetjéhez jelentékeny összeggel hozzájárulni.

Ismételjük köszönetünket mindazokkal szemben kik ügyünk sikerét congenialitásukkal elmozdították, de ezek közül nyoma-

tékos hálával kell elkönyvelnünk Mélyen Tisztelt Mester nevét, aki hozzánk juttatott postájával ismételten arról győzött meg bennünket hogy Mesterünkra a távolból is, mindenkor mint a fiatal magyar művészgeneráció lelkes pártfogójára gondolhatunk és kérjük hogy ezer csapással végigszabdalt Hazánk törekvő fiatalságát szeretetében és barátságában ezután is megtartani kegyeskezdjék.

Amikor a fentiekben Bálbizottságunk hálás köszönetét van szerencsénk tolmácsolni, maradunk a Mélyen Tisztelt Mesternek hódoló tisztelettel
