Dear (Elected Official),

As a constituent, I am writing to express my outrage at continued U.S. complicity in Israeli atrocities, genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people. I ask that you support an immediate ceasefire; ending U.S. military funding to Israel; advance justice by sanctioning Israel until it ends its apartheid policies against the Palestinian people; elevate Palestinian demands for freedom and self determination.

Palestinians deserve to be free, but right now our tax dollars are invested in their oppression. After an immediate ceasefire. As a first step, I ask that you cosponsor H.R. 2590, the Palestinian Children and Families Act. This bill will ensure that my taxpayer dollars do not fund the Israeli government’s imprisonment and torture of Palestinian children, the theft and destruction of Palestinian homes and property, or further annexation of Palestinian land in violation of international law. By insisting on greater transparency and accountability around U.S. military funding to Israel, we move closer to a world where we divest from harm and invest in justice for all.

Members of Congress must listen to Palestinians about the harm our current policies cause, and center Palestinians as the most impacted people. Palestinian analyst Yara Hawari put it simply: “When the international community calls for calm and deescalation, they are really evading the responsibility the Israeli state has, which is to end the occupation and colonization of Palestinian land.”

Leading human rights organizations, like Human Rights Watch, are finally echoing what Palestinian advocates have been saying for years: condemn Israeli apartheid, condition military funding, and sanction officials responsible for Israel’s ethnic cleansing campaigns. As my representative, I ask you to heed these calls to defund apartheid and ethnic cleansing and build a future with freedom and safety for all people.
