FCC has a “Thor Guard” lightning detection system on our property. The pool is cleared if the system goes off or if we see lightning. If we need to clear the pool deck due to inclement weather during swim meets, both spectators and swimmers must wait in their vehicles until the all clear signal has been given to return to the pool area and resume the meet. Once the system does not detect lightning in the area, the all clear signal will be given. If 30 minutes have elapsed since the last sighting of lightning or sound of thunder, the swim meet will only resume provided the lightning detection system has sounded the all clear siren. The pool manager, or equivalent representation in the rare case that the pool manager is not present, is responsible for keeping elapsed time and making all decisions regarding inclement weather.
