Difficulty: Hard TCG Shikigamis Guide

For mobile users to this doc:

“A flock of coos - For every person waiting, this card will coo once. Coo coo coo coo coo coo coo….”

Perhaps, a bit of reasoning for the ‘hard’ shikigamis before we go on…
yukiD: when he was released, YukiO was the only shikigami that went with him. Now that Sayuki exists, he has more breathing space in the early game.

Mitsume: probably due to how it actually takes some effort to complete quests. (you can do that with busy busy busy form for quick quests)

Hiyo: self harm that can be easily exploited by momo I mean forms

Kamai: the only member of the initial charge gang that does not have a conventional way of obtaining multiple charges. (they made it easier because of the change on g2 to g1 charge draw, albeit not very fast charge but still)

Kaguya: The hard part probably comes from how the fields stack on top of each other instead of being separate like everyone else.

How unfortunate that Stone Bowl exists.

Fuji, Kanko and Ungaikyo: Looks hard on paper, actually easy when you just stack and go unga bunga.

Suzuhikohime: Pretty much a switcheroo; when dead, she turns to a bell and when healed, she’s alive again. Just put Flickering Starfire/Swallow’s Cowry Shells and she’s gucci. Be careful of snipes though

Kyonshi Family

The kyonshi’s passives are just too big brain and screams sus and imposter-
Yeah. They are all double-edged shikigamis, and can easily be seen as joke cards.
117, 2k20 - “Ani will work it out anyways!” (原文:跳哥一定行)

Kyonshi Ototo
-enjoy stacking fragile and throw them back to the opponent?
-want to try a shiki with high risk, high return?
Then Ototo is for you!

Recommended teammates:
Momo for her hp buff for ototo’s survivability
Kiyohime and Tenjo, ofc for extra fragile
Jinmenju and Kaoru for a very hp based surprise
Rally might do good too with Shiranui and Hitorima

Basic combo
Ah Yes, My Fragile Garden.
Let ototo take damage with
Bloated Constitution and throw fragile back to the opponent with Noxious Spray.
Kiyohime’s g1
Venom Frenzy/Sacrificial Fire and Kaguya’s Dragon Jewel (must be 10 hp+) is able to wipe the whole opponent’s board given that ototo has taken a lot of damage.
(Ashura has a g3 all aoe 2 damage including your shikis but I don’t really recommend this)
You can be passive aggressive with
Sweet Burden with this combo to rack up that fragile and hope ototo doesn’t die-)

HP? It's attack now!

Pair up kyonshi ototo with Jinmenju. use Jinmenju's Sacred Tree Protection on Ototo, once Ototo has a g2 form Bloated Constitution and fast combat card Sweet Burden ready, you'll be able to do 28 dmg to the enemy player in just g2 phase. Though it's quite tricky to pull it off. Kaoru is sometimes in this combo to protect Ototo and even give him some HP with her Determination form. Recommendation for the fourth member is to have someone who can certainly clear the enemy board for Ototo to directly hit the player. Whether aggro or spellslinger, any works.

You Fool. I have a house now and a big punch.

Ah yes, tenjo house is here. Though there's already a Tenjo guide down there, I'll just put it here for Kyonshi Ototo. Basically rack up his fragile, then grab it with Tenjo's g1 spell Commotion Sound. You can use it for a big boi house with Yokai Koya Awakening. Perhaps you might even use Kyonshi Ototo's g3 combat card Stiff Punch with that big shield/fragile from Tenjo.

You have fragile on? No damage then.

This works better with Kiyohime's Lady Snake form tbh, but it's g1 so it's faster. And yes, Suzuka Gozen makes an appearance here too. Put on a g1 form Miasmatic Constitution on Ototo, and let him be in the combat zone. Then on the next turn when the enemy shikigami has attacked Ototo, put Suzuka's Overlord form on her. She'll basically have no damage taken at all. I'd personally like to put in Momo in this deck so that both won't die. Oh, and of course, put in Kiyohime too with her form. Now everybody is dressed up :D

Things to look out:
-
Sweet Burden is fast and will trigger without any orb cost as long as you didn’t use any fast cards before ending turn.

-You are So Dead if you're going against someone who can pierce. Like, Really Dead. Don't put Ototo out there with fragile on him too.

What is he capable of doing?
-Transferring fragile by unconventional means
-Increase self hp with the help of evo
-Dealing more fragile when he receives more damage (as long as ototo not dying especially using ssr)

-You can literally use the fragile he has and turn it into attack with his g3 combat card. Convenient :]

Kyonshi Imouto

-enjoy stalling and hiding your hp behind a trusty dog?
-like cute zombies?
Then Imouto is for you!

What is she capable of doing?
-able to grow stats on Tomato and deal ranged damage

-protect your hp by letting Tomato be on combat area without having to worry about losing hp on your shikigami

-can attack backline with the stat Attack! on

Basic combo:

Just stack Sit! and Attack! for more stats on late game's Evolve:Tomato

Recommended teammates:
Aoandon for extra orb if you need more pressure (and digging up right cards or leveling imouto faster)
Bukkuman: to find more buffing cards for your dog before getting into your ‘I’m the captain now’ phase
Momo: m o r e b u f f s and revives

Things to look out:
You need to
Attack! with Tomato to stack ranged attacks. (pun intended) The more u attack with Tomato, the more range attacks you stack, up to 4 targets if you have used 2 Attack! .If you didn’t attack/stack, Evolve:Tomato won’t be able to deal ranged damage.

A typical late game shiki, she heavily relies on cards above as stated to have good damage.
Her normal attacks wastes 2 orbs and also heavily relies on Tomato to optimize damage and orb managing, making the deck prone to be countered by aggro, fragile or just taunt skills such as Ootengu’s
Wind Blast, Dodomeki’s Thought Strike, Karasu’s Feather Trail/Iba’s Demon Hand and even Hitotsume's Stone Throw. Plus, what are you gonna do if you don't draw her cards :[

And she’s expensive to buy as she’s only available through Kaidan.
Rip f2ps (yeah with that price, people barely or nobody even plays her anymore unless rework)

Kyonshi Ani

-enjoy messing with coffins or bonking/killing people with coffins?
-or coffin resurrection?

-haah, minecraft villager noises
-
Astromania Coffin Dance

Then Ani is for you!

What is he capable of doing?

-Surprising the enemy player with his stunned attack.

-Bonks really hard with the help of his SSR evo
-Growing stats with the cost of sacrificing and stun

-Capable of removal with Coffin Seal

Recommended teammates:
Maestro for extra CD
Karasu or Otake because they have access to force attacking with other shikigamis and at least Ani doesn’t have to be stunned when attacking

Other members of the kyonshi family to exploit the coffin’s passive
Kyuumei Neko for the
Coffin Smash buff!

[ Deck example: Karasu/Hoouga/Kyuumei Neko/Ani
Thanks to cielSensei for showing his fun deck. ]

Suzuhikohime/Koroka; her death counts to Kyonshi Ani’s extra stats for Coffin Smash and reduces countdown of Grudge Gathering Formation

Things to look out:

-Cry if you're going against a stun deck. And i don't mean the fake stun deck (mono blue). I mean the triple Yuki.

-expect your Ani to probably die to Onikiri's Oniblade: Cleave at some point.

Combos

Feed Me Corpses (canniba—)

Yup, the Kyuumei + Kyonshi Ani combo. Again, credits to cielSensei for making this! Basically activate Ani's Coffin Smash, then use Kyuumei's Catsteps to kill her twice and an enemy shikigami along with her if it's enough damage. So basically free 3+/3+. It can also be a CD reducer for Ani's g1 form Grudge Gathering Formation.

Is it my turn yet? >:D

The classic countdown deck. With maestro as an absolute yes with him. Kind of self - explanatory, really. For the two other members, you can go offensive and do Ichimokuren and Ootengu. Or a double attack with Yamakaze. Heck, even Yamausagi for that sweet six.

But it's not my turn yet?!

Top five reasons why Karasu Tengu's Blade of Justice is toxic. When Kyonshi Ani attacks and is in the combat zone, you can literally assault using him and still make him attack at that same turn with Karasu. It's a cheat smh.

Want a snack?

..It's self explanatory. Gaki just eats all of Ani's evolve stats <3

Now for the actual Kyonshi Family Deck.

The fourth member is pretty flexible. Whether a healer, a spellslinger, or even an aggro unit. Anything works. That's how flexible this deck can be as long as the fourth member can keep up with the hopping zombies.

Kyonshi Ani's Resurrection is obviously a must. Especially when it got a buff of applying immune to the Kyonshis when they assault, instead of the previous unyielding.

Now for the actual fun thing, combos. Aside from the resurrection all out, Imoto and Ototo, like in their canon story, helps out Ani's stunned passive a lot. From fast combat cards, to summoning their bork borking Tomato.

For combos, here's an expensive one. On g3, setup Kyonshi Ani's Grudge Release Formation. Then, in the next turn, attack with Kyonshi Ototo and put his SSR Ptomaine Constitution on. With that, the enemy will be quite reluctant on attacking. If the enemy can't kill you or Ani at that turn, they're getting all their units killed and 11 damage to the face if they attack Ototo with him on fragile. (unless their units are hella tanky to endure 7 damage.)

The classic death trap. Using Tomato as bait, Ani on Grudge Gathering Formation can attack quickly by killing the enemy shikigami with Tomato. And if Tomato dies too, well that's a boost for him. This also works for his Coffin Smash.

A special one, you can use his spell Coffin Seal on himself or any of the other Kyonshis to initiate an attack. Well, given that the coffin doesn't die. But c'mon, it's a free attack. Especially with Kyonshi Ani on evo.

Onikiri

-enjoy being a vengeful sword spirit on wanting to defeat their own creator in combat?

-or a handsome person with an arm stand? (nani?! omae wa mou shindeir-)

-or just enjoy baiting people 100 times in a row?

Then Onikiri is for you!

What is he capable of doing?

-cut up teams with one sort of offense (Higekiri/Mustache Slash)

-Bringing you advantage on counters to spells so that your backliners won’t get sniped (Tomokiri/Friend Slash)
-and the bait attack for not blocking! (
Shishinoko/Child of Lion)

Recommended teammates:
Shishio, Maestro since they have access to ramping abilities and allows early game Onikiri to have more survivability
or just, any of the blue members (except the leader Sayuki cuz she's more in spell sling/stun decks)

Stat debuffers like Kodokushi for easier kills due to low attack early game (at least until Dispersing Blade is attached)

He’s also very excellent with Fujihime, since big stats = more survivability while countering. Before Fujihime, Umibozu (plus Sakura for sustain) takes this role.

Old Storm has him with Kaoru to avoid getting him killed easily along with an attack buffer like Ootake

Usage of blades or basic combo:
Flickering shadows:
1: Equip mustache slash, use flickering shadows, leave one orb if you have the corresponding oniblade card

2. Equip mustache slash, use flickering shadows, -> dispersing blade/ringing blade, leave one orb if you have the corresponding oniblade card
Avenging blade: good on Sakura/Oitsuki comp, and to bait enemies easier (at the cost of lesser damage with mustache slash). This is also used for Blue Mist storm decks as he acts as a blocker during early-mid game while you set things up for your other shikis (and also save them from premature death)
Dispersing blade: gives him +3 attack on enemy’s turn. Due to this, it’s possible that he can start deleting at the start of g2. It’s also an R card too!

Ringing blade is great for fragile users as it attacks twice per oniblade. Ringing Blade also depends on the deck but it's rarely used because of its level.

Which combat card should I bring in my deck?

Currently Oniblade: Rashomon is frequently used to prevent spells being fired and possible deletion of evolve cards which are oftentimes considered core for a shikigami. The card is G2 and mostly counters a lot of snipe/buff/evolve spells

Some bring 1 Oniblade: Cleave to delete annoying aggro/tank units and to also counter any shiki who uses Hunt to avoid premature death, but be careful not to waste during G1 phase

The G3 combat card is rarely brought due to the assumption that a shikigami will always attack and never leave the combat zone open. This card is chosen when evo is played (but even then, it’s better to either pick Cleave or Rashomon)

Which combat card should I pick for evolve?

Rashomon if your opponent’s deck has spells that are either:

  1. Finisher, usually catches them off guard (e.g. Swaying Blaze, Lantern Drain) and the opponent would be forced into either supposedly wasting their second SSR (or other useful cards) or sit out and think of another strategy
  2. Wincon, useful for teams that have cards that can turn the tides of battle such as Revival Blossom or cards that can surely help the team seal victory like Tales All Around, Morus’ Blessing, Hatsune Dream Journey etc., Evolve spells such as Aobozu, Fujihime, Tenjo etc. that can greatly cripple the team without their evolves, is also a good Rashomon target
  3. Core, usually Evolves but Core Cards vary depending on the shikigami. For example, if you are facing a Countdown deck, your priority would be the evolves of Itsumade/Maestro’s Kagura/Chin (in some cases Ensemble would also be good to delete). If you’re facing against Senhime, deleting her Seashell Halberd can be quite a concern for the opposing team since Senhime can’t really work once her halberd is permanently deleted from the game
  4. Annoying Snipes such as Phoenix Blaze, Self-Deception. Senhime’s Stun and give 5 Atk card is also counted in this category

Cleave if you are facing aggressive decks but it’s also good for any type of deck generally considering a shikigami must attack (unless the objective is to get hurt and heal all the damage later like Enmubozu). This is very useful if you’re facing finishing cards like Suzuka’s Righteous Path or shikigamis that tend to move a lot like Karasu/Wuchen. Cleave is also very good for OTK teams late-game such as Tarka Ji provided that they don’t use any cards that give them immunity to attack damage. Shikigamis with Hunt-based cards like Uminocho, Hitorima, Susanoo is good food for Cleave

G3 Combat can be very tricky considering teams would not leave their combat zone open but this card is good for teams that rely mostly on not attacking and getting hurt (e.g. Enmubozu). Be sure to control opponent shikigamis who can quickly turn the tide to ensure maximum effect.

  • The third blade can also be used to add pressure in early-game phase for Stall/OTK teams, forcing them to do something rather than leave their face open and take more damage from Onikiri

Note: The use of combat cards + Ringing Blade has to be on the first strike itself. Oni Blade: Rashomon will delete the card if you are able to kill the shikigami by the first blade, otherwise, it will just act as normal Friendly Slash (e.g. the copied blade via Ringing Blade)

(Not sure if this is applicable for Oni Blade: Cleave but if it isn’t, then truly an OTCG moment)

SSR keeps blades as long as they aren’t used.

Things to look out for when using oni:
-
Fields, Forms do not trigger oni’s blades
-
Evolve Cards are counted as spells
-His SSR, evo is highly recommended (or I would say a must) since it's his core and largely turns the tide in late game. Without that your Onikiri is just very dependable on forms and
what if rng doesn’t give you forms in a game? Your oni is forever stuck in 2/4 and be sitting ducks

-He’s a bit iffy with Transformation

Onikiri doesn’t trigger his blades when cards are played automatically at the start or end of turn. However, he does trigger when Transformation is triggered during your turn (you can experiment this by playing Tamamo’s Blazing Snow)

Also, Onikiri without his Evolve means that he would be relying to Aoandon for orbs to trigger his cards and most meta decks don’t really use Aoandon with him unless the objective for him is to stall out and burst late game

-You better be careful when facing against fragile with Onikiri. A certain snek will mess you up with their fragile passive, especially if you choose mustache slash. (thanks to Duck for this tip!)

Ringing Blade can somehow cancel this out due to the blade copying effect, but still be careful with his other Forms

Tenjo Kudari

“Sir, wanna invest in a house?”

-enjoy having a shikigami able to deal fragile/armor?
-building houses?

-jojo STANDO memes?

Then Tenjojo is for you!

What is she capable of doing?
-Able to stack fragile/armor
-Able to redirect all fragile/armor to a single shikigami

-Removes fragile/armor from opponent shiki
-Heals hp according to the highest amount of fragile/armor

-and ofc, build houses!

Recommended teammates:
Kiyo for extra fragile
Umibozu and SamX or extra armor
Shira for rally(and also armor)

Suzuka or Kyonshi Ototo for more offensive fragile
Akaname for armor and aoe armor :D

Basic combo:
Make sure to stack her passive with
Sound of Joy.
Umi evo + Master of the Sea (or even Blessed Water) ,Sam X evo helps a lot on stacking with armor so that you can summon big house!
Kiyo’s Venom Frenzy (g1 aoe) can be used in conjunction with convergence but make sure there’s no armor on the other units because convergence calculates by min-maxing both fragile and armor.

You can use Venom Frenzy, Lady Snake or Kiss of Fire conjunction with Kiyo SSR evo and its better when you have it with other fragile-inducing shikigamis. Kiss of Fire is still best paired with ssr evo because fragile stacking yeah but who uses her evo for our current season anyways???? Slow decks are quite dead(let's not forget rng) and mid speed decks could still outpower it :[

How to house summon:
Convergence -> Yokai Koya Awakening

Just pray that you don’t face an Ootengu, Dodomeki or shikis with drag, taunt skills [same reason with Tomato as a summon;check above] when your house is summoned with big chonky hp

Things to look out:
She’s more of a supporter and please don’t use her like an attacker unless you’re forced to. And because of this she’s more likely to be sniped by spell users to prevent
Sound of Joy’s passive stacking.

Menreiki

“Little Menreiki has four faces?”

-Enjoys changing faces?Masks?

-Enjoys sniping?

What is she capable of doing?
-Being a Kamen Rider
-Draw cards (duh)
-Deals extra damage or receives less damage depending factions
-Sniping festival
-SSR annoying wincon

Recommended teammates:
She’s basically good with anyone, but blue shikis are recommended. (anything can be menrei’d)

Any OTK/stat gain teams like Momo/Shishio, Tarka Ji, Yoto Alter or OG Yoto, and mid-speed teams

Things to look out:
Damage calculation on HER PASSIVE AND
 Self Deception Jail
Damage is calculated by number of alive shiki with different color faction +2

So if there’s 4 colors on board that's 6 damage (its 7 damage when different factions)

And she’s sitting most of the time behind and again, risk being sniped unless u have ssr veil or just any veil
Evo doubles all damage she deals.

(This also counts on Jinmenju's Calamity Bloom. I've seen some people being confused about this, but they really forget that the damage that is dealt is from the shiki themself.)

TBH Menrei is pretty self-explanatory except for the calculation damage.

Ssr effects:
red: pierce, when menreiki is a red faction shiki, all shikis gain 1 attack.

purple: unyielding, when menreiki is purple, heal you and menreiki by 3 hp

green: quick, when menreiki is green, do 2 damage to a enemy shiki

blue; veiled, when menreiki is blue,do 1 damage to all shikis

Gaki

“Always hungry”

-Enjoy destroying everything your enemy has used blood and sweat to build up, or gore scenes?
-Or enjoy wrecking opponent’s SSR field or form?
-nom nom nom finally some good fuking food
Then Gaki is for you!

Why Gaki?
-Nice bulk and offense mid game
-Can deal with anyone who doesn’t spam 10 attack cards
-Scary mid-late game advantage

Recommended teammates:
Hitorima to get his ssr-induced keywords
Momo(again) for more stats
Shira for rally buffs

What to watch out for?
He’s expensive as hell due to his r card mostly being as useful as an egg in a microwave- useless, but can deal with
something (edit: his R combat card that deletes the top of your opponent’s library is useful now but the point still stands of him being expensive)
Unlike Gaki’s actual lore, you’ll want to not eat everything you see- identify the enemies’ core cards/forms, then nom when it’s the best time especially keep them for countering oppo’s SSR fields and forms
For evo its best to target big boye perma stat rampers like Inu, Mitsume, Genkuro SSR buffs, Momo perma heal buffs

Kodokushi

-Be annoying to the opponent?

-Bugs?

-the fact that his forms look so damn different from what he usually is?
Then Kodo is for you!

What is he capable of doing?
-Plays around Erosion (-1/-1 stats) passive
-Debuff depending amount of erosion on opponent shiki
-Draw or Heal depending defeated opponent shiki with Erosion attached
-Be more annoying with increasing and transferring or even insta kill with his spells

-Scapegoat.

His SSR is very fun.

You can do a lot to play mind games with the enemy using Imprisoned Butterfly. From Shuten being unable to use his g2 form Demon King (or activating his passive at all), to tricking the enemy with chonky stats with Kusa's Flickering Shadows. And since Kusa's spell applies for the whole turn, that same shikigami will die due to Kodokushi's SSR. Very neat. Oh, and fatal doesn't work when the field is on. Very Spicy.

Here's something fun, inflict all the enemies parasites. Evolve really helps by the way. Don't let them die yet though. When g3 comes, summon his SSR field. Watch them all DIE because of the 0 health = death rule. Pretty satisfying. And, if Kodokushi has his g2 form Soul Eating Parasite on, thats a lotta heals you're getting.

Here's one called My Garden Of Bugs. Basically it's like "Garden of Fragile" but… yk, erosion. Whether it's Kaguya's Dragon Jewel (always on 10+ hp), Kyonshi Ani's Grudge Release Formation, Or even Kiyohime's Kiss of Fire. (I would say put all of them together, but Kaguya is in a different faction. Hmph.)

Oh, and of course. Hangan :)

Recommended teammates:
Jinmenju if you have his SSR to meme with Kodo SSR
Onikiri for finisher
Sakura for Flower Cloud Oath combo

Warrior Soul and Hitotsume for Warrior Soul to easily attack without worrying about your HP being damaged too much.

Heal Deck with Kodokushi's Soul Eating Parasite form. or Draw Deck with his Infinite Parasite form.

Hangan :)

Taishakuten for spell copying via Holy Child which means … more debuffing at the cost of one (1) single card!

Things to look out:

Playing with Imprisoned Butterfly on field is a death wish for both you and your opponent

Uhhhh he’s barely even used rn cuz debuffing wastes an orb and it doesn’t really work on current 4 guardians expansion because of that mega ramp from most faction leaders

Kodo now it's mostly used for meme anyways-
Evo Kodokushi adds +1 to his debuffs and they are all gone once the inflicted one is dead, so prepare for some enemy self-sacrifices too.

Kiyohime

Fun fact: kiyo is only named hard due to her inability to deal damage with one card. Her hard difficulty was only on season 1~3 kek
She probably deserved that, but then suzuka came.
Cough i meant

-Enjoy forcing your enemies to think carefully about engaging, or deal big pp damage, or just being a toxic metasl- toxic? Then kiyo is for you, you evil son of a bitch!
Another fun fact: only kiyo’s spells are useful!

"eight cards? nah, kiyo only has four."  wait who said this please quote yerself

No seriously her forms kinda cuck her bc they don’t apply fragile instantly and that’s no good

Why are we even writing about her she’s just unga bunga spell

seriously, just smack anything but evo

Tho, Kiss Of Fire is amazing, would recommend in meme decks

What is she capable of doing?
-Fragile fire starter ofc!
-Fragile, fragile and more fragile and lets you make big pp damage

Basic combos:
literally
Serpent Lash + Sacrificial Fire
Venom frenzy + Sacrificial Fire
Or even Nameless Venom + Sacrificial Fire if oppo is not going to block

(i am not putting bold on the same cards again smh -lava)

Recommended teammates:
Srsly? We don’t have to repeat this, all answers are above
Or u can try pairing her with any violet faction shiki-

“Buff Spray”

Hannya

-Are you into pranks and being fortunate by card draw RNG?
-
Nee, boku wo asondeyooooo
-Mitsuketaaa
(um, electro cicin mage)
-Revenge?
Boy, do I have a unit for you.

What does he do anyways?
-Pretty much Yoto on steroids, aka divination Yoto
-Can auto attack provided either
Prank or Mischief is at the top of his deck.

-Can also help you in choosing cards if you are playing him in non-divination centered decks (provided he hits face of course.)

Basic Combos

-Prank or Mischief on top of deck

Do take note that when Mischief is on top of the deck, whether someone is in combat zone or not, will immediately be used by Hannya. Same goes for Prank. Just a thought since you could be wasting that RNG Foresight Slash :gamble:

(His combat card Face Changing can help, but be careful on what you want to put back in the library. Especially if Hannya suddenly dies due to some kinda trap.)

-Hit face + G2 combat card

Cry of the Sea turns fast provided you have previously done divination (includes divination done by other units)

-Scent of Vengeance form + any combat card

Do I have to explain this?

-SSR + good draw rng

Recommended Teammates

He can fit with any units that can do divination and/or has divination mechanics (specifically Dodomeki, Oitsuki, even Enmusubi)

Can use his divination to strengthen Kidomaru’s passive/allow cards for his forms to take advantage of (and to make sure he won’t fuck your cards up)
Also used as an alternative to Shishio for Mono-blue storm/stun teams (Hannya/Onikiri/Sayuki/Menreiki) although upon seeing this in Shotengai AI, this is a
slightly more offensive version of Blue Mist since you are replacing Shishio for this.

In the current meta (as of Good or Evil pack), he works with aggro mid-spd teams (Hannya/Karasu Tengu/Kanihime or Menreiki/Yoto Hime or Warrior Soul) and modified mono-blue storm (Kanihime/Menreiki/Hannya/Sayuki).
Due to his abundance of G1 Combat Cards, is also paired with Higanbana setup (Higanbana/Asura/Kingyo/Hannya). Overall, he works for teams with little to no draw capability, since when hitting face, Hannya can divine and choose which cards you want to receive on the start of your turn.

Karasu Tengu

“Everything’s under control”

-Best boi in TCG cuz he used to top off 1st place in usage charts? (i mean the better karasu- slapped)
-Self-Proclaimed Orochi slayer?

Then Seigi 正義 boi is for you! (yeah it means justice and it's all over his lines)

What he does:

-Projectile generator, +1 damage; +3 on evo. 2 evos does not increase passive damage

-Blade of Justice joint attack or force attack given that there's shiki in your combat area

-Drag shikis so that u can kill backline annoying shikis

Recommended teammates:

Shikis with access to fast cards such as yoto, or any aggro shiki
Kyonshi Ani for obvious reasons

Rally. Just believe us.
Any buffer to take advantage of his evo/ free projectile removal

Combo:

Evo + Windchase + any other shiki's normal attack/fast cards

his form Deadly Flock for sustain. If the enemy defender happens to be too strong, use any of karasu’s move cards.

extra:

Good old Umibozu Evo + Master of the Sea form + wait next turn+ Umi attacks+ Blade of Justice literally any high attacker at the battle zone will do

Wind chase-> another shikigami uses an attack card->karasu attacks/Justice Will Prevail to keep you and the dps safe

Deadly Flock->Wind chase->leave one orb for Scurrying Crows to deal with those pesky attackers

Note:
The only hard part is using his passive to the fullest: stacking and messing around cards like
Windchase, Justice Shall Prevail and Scurrying Crows

The best is to pair with Higanbana as she has fast g1 field Road of Firelight for Karasu to stack passive

bc if you fuck up you’re going to lose out on damage

while other shikis can just use 1 card and get the full effect...usually

Karasu: Repetition Side Step!!!

So players just tend to use Blade of Justice and Feather Trail for straightforward play

tho Scurrying Crows is barely used it can offset finishers such as Shishio's Antler Gore or Suzuka's Righteous Path

Fearless Hero is not recommended as it literally locks Karasu unless you really need to suppress an opponent shikigami

The only shiki that cucks Karasu early game (before obtaining evo) is Kaoru because of the protection passive

Orochi

‘What, are you teaching me how to play this game?’

-Are you into handsome men or just love snakes in general?

-Do you like Light Yagami except he’s god?

-Do you like a shikigami that basically carries you all the way? (or does all the job for you?)

-Are you lazy in dragging your shikigami and using their cards at the start of g3?

You’re just in luck! The Big Bad of Onmyoji is here! (or the famous 8-headed serpent is here!)

What he does

-Basically a “revive” unit in a sense that if your allied shiki die, they just turn into 3/3 snakes that can attack and have haste
-Can also give the keyword
Soaring that allows you to attack again even if you have used your assault attempts
-Can buff a shikigami into giving them more
attack and then killing them. Or just kill them and turn to snake, that works either way
-His Evo is literally a wincon :)

Basic Combos

-G1 Spell Card/G2 SR Spell + Any shiki that is alive
Don’t have snakes? Need that annoying shiki in combat
zone killed? This card is pretty much for everyone that is alive to give more attack, in exchange of being turned into a snake after
-His Forms Cards + snakes
G1 Form has
Soaring which allows you to attack even if you don’t have assault attempts. Paired with Haste, it can be a deadly combination.

G2 Form increases his survivability in exchange for the snakes that you have.

G3 Form is pretty much a Projectile fest that is similar to Tamamo’s Nine-Tailed Inferno/Akaname’s G2 SR Form

-G2 R Spell + Snakes
Literally just Joruri but with snakes!
-Evolve SSR + being AFK
Orochi thinks you’re dumb and snatches the game. Literally. Once he enters evolve, any shiki who dies gains Orochi’s stats in exchange of not being able to move Orochi (along with his subsequent duplicates) AND use his cards since he deletes them anyways. Also, these Orochi clones can and will also use Transformation too :)

(using a form before ssr is also highly recommended in order to buff your clones.)

Recommended Teammates

Orochi does well with anyone who is part of the Red Faction. In some ways or another, he seems to have somewhat made the red team great again, although a certain goldfish is MVP just for going unga bunga in giving buffs (or suicide)

Shikis that can ramp up his stats like Kingyo, Koi, and Ootake works. Inugami: CB is currently his partner in the current meta
Shikis that can also give rally like Shiranui are his best friends too.
Shikis with strong revive capabilities like Momo, Inugami, and Odokuro can help you go into a cycle of live-die-turn snake cycle

Shikis that have passives that only activate upon defeat like Koroka are also his best friends too

Note

Okay, he may be an ancient powerful snake god who got fed with young maidens to break away from his curse, that does not mean Orochi doesn’t have weaknesses.

Even though you have an attack attempt with a snake, it is 3/3 (4/4 with Hitorima Evolved) and by conventions, will get sniped by backliners like Kanihime/Menreiki or dragged forcibly with Feather Trail, Mind Attack, and Demon Hand. Which is why Evolve is a requirement to make sure that his duplicates can actually hit hard and survive.

Oh, and speaking of Golden Lotus + Ten Good Deeds, Orochi is weak to fatal spells like Death Penalty. When he’s dead, he cannot generate snakes, nor can the snakes get any kind of boost.

Orochi’s Evo stats (including his copies) can be reduced by Gaki’s Evo to a base 2/5, where its a large nerf of his combat abilities so be extra sure on using Orochi’s evo if you ever face Gaki.

Speaking of Evolve, he is not immune to deletion such as Mouba, Maestro, and Onikiri. It’s a spell after all, perfect food for Onikiri’s Friendly Slash. When he doesn’t have Evolve, Orochi’s potential is gimped and literally just a sitting duck with 3/3 snakes.

A few things should be noted when using these shikis with Orochi:
Warrior Soul will not turn into a snake, no matter the situation.
Kyuumei will only turn into one once she activates her Nine Lives permadeath. Once dead as a snake, she’ll then die permanently.

edit: Aug 22 2023

As of Thunderous Awakening’s release and with Susanoo, please take note of the following:

  1. Orochi cannot generate snakes when Susanoo’s Thunder Sword is in place and when defeated, do not turn into his serpent demons

Lastly, all snakes inherit his stats. While this can be taken advantage of, have fun going against a Kodo-Taisha setup.

‘not a single missed ball’ u sure abt that when you’re in evo

Fujihime

“I’m so weak…..”

- Do you like a unit that generates extra stats for you for extra survivability?

- Stats that are pretty much so low that it can be killed by any projectile until Fujiiro starts stacking up?

- On the verge of death? Don’t worry, Substitution will kick in and you get to retain your original stats upon your supposed death!

What she does:
Stack Fujiiro and some occasional summons on the board for survivability. Aaand you’re done.

Recommended Teammates:
She can be slapped on every deck and still be S tier for supporting and buffing. Usually she’s paired with either Hitotsume or Onikiri, or both. Fujihime also has synergy with shikigami that can summon, but so far, it seems like this synergy is abused with Nokanshi due to his spell cards being able to buff Oriyuki.

Basic Combos:

During the early game she can’t do much- just stack and be safe.
-
Hall of Flowers allows her to keep her Fujiro stacks even if her Illusion/Servitor breaks off.  -Dream Weaver serves as a great blocker.

-Evolved allows her to buff other teammates, but in turn she will be vulnerable.

-Wisteria Dance protects your ally shikigami if in a pinch.

-Phantom Echo can be used if you really need another summon late game.

-Her SSR, Immemorial/ Millennium Illusions which is the most op of all things applies a stack of Fujiiro when your ally shiki assaults.

Regarding Relieving

Be careful in using Relieving as it can delete summons that are considered essential (e.g. Seashell Halberd). Just a small note when playing Fujihime with Senhime

Kanko

“You have been marked”

-Nothing much to write about Kanko, he may be hard on paper but actually he’s surprisingly easy to use.

Ungaikyo

“Good things are to be shared and, good buffs too”

“Crit, Fast, Pierce, Lifesteal…”

-Do you need a unit that buffs itself like crazy?

-Pew pew sniping passively?

What he does:

Buffing himself or gaining other extra effects by doing linking. Very simple.

Recommended Teammates:

He’s versatile in mono green decks and mid-speed (green/blue hybrid decks). Great for aggro if you want a self-sustaining blocker and is really good with Matsu

Due to decent snipes and combat aggressiveness, he is currently used in direct hit aggro with Hakuro and Chin

Basic Combos:

-Falling Shadows for healing

-His SSR, Thousand Reflections is a faster way to retain all linking buffs.

-Alternation for suppression

-Hidden Sun for projectile damage

-Evolved for making his cards Fast by the same name

-Mirror’s Wrath for Crit buff when linked

Matsu

“Got yall in my hands”

-Do you like to play Among Us and make enemies confused?

-Linking cards, and faster linking cards?

What he does:

-Basically linking to your other shikigami’s cards if you have his evo.

-Make your enemies fight each other

Recommended Teammates:

Usually shikigamis with linking or milling shikigamis like Kisei, Bukkuman. He can be slotted in aggro if you have his evo for faster combo.

He can also be played with stun shikis like Yuki Onna, Yuki, Sayuki, if you’re planning to abuse Nightjoy House

Basic Combos:

-Puppet Master for making them attack themselves

-Evolved for more linking

-Beauty for making the damage to be taken by another opponent shikigami.

-Pluck for more confusing by making opponent shikigami attack each other

-Nightjoy House is best paired with stun teams for maximum efficiency

Nekomata

“Angery Cat”

-Do you like to see Nekomata's children in action?

-Cat Chaos and flying furs

-WASHI JA

What she does:
-Extra support for your cooking team and summon team.

-Get more ingredients for your cooking team.

-Command her kitties to attack.

Recommended Teammates:

Full Cooking team, like Amezaku, Usagi, Gomaru, Shokurei. Sadly, this deck can only be played in player matches due to faction differences.

As for the summon team, you can pair her with Nokanshi.

Nekomata is more frequently used in green teams due to her summonable cats being able to serve as both a blocker and a DPS

Basic Combos:

-Purchase Ingredient, for more ingredients duh

-Summon Sparrow/Four Dots/Nihitomi for buffing summons’s stats

-Evolved = Ingredient generator for your turn

-Her SSR, Owner of Nekomataya is also an ingredient generator and summons her kitties during your turn where her kitties abilities will trigger twice for more summon stats.

Tanuki

“Ahahahaha….”

-Keep calm and stun heal

-Drunkard

-The peak of cancerous stun meta

-SAKE JA SAKE JA AHAHAHAHA *burp*

What he does:

-Demon wine generator under conditions that self stuns him

-Ignore stun effects as long as he has evo

-Heal under stun

-Self buff under stun

Recommended Teammates:

Need I say? Just go full stun team- yukiO, yukiD etc or go good ol mono purple.

Basic Combos:

-Wine Tasting Expert for generating demon wines

-Urge to Drink for easy sniping and another demon wine

-Evolved for making him ignore stun effects

-Hardcore Alcoholic for anti snipe

-Drinker’s Intention for auto battles while he’s stunned

-His SSR, Drunk and Full ignores all stun effects for your allies where it will also delete your opponent’s cards in hand when their shikigami is stunned. Now that it’s buffed, it’s even more potent with Drinker’s Intention

Basic Combos without using Tanuki’s cards:

-Sayuki’s Skilled Imitation can also be used to stun Tanuki. The token card, Kurikaramaru, does not hit Tanuki as well (the description of the cards says that Kurikaramaru only affects stunned opponent shikigami so … loophole!)

On the Opposite Side …

-Be careful when using Sayuki’s Freestyle as it can also defeat Tanuki but it can also be used for a big brain play as well …

Kinnara

“Perfectly reasonable!”

Suzuhikohime

“I am once again alive.”
