Backup

  1. Open the Moodle course you want to backup.  Click on Backup under the Administration block.  

  1. Uncheck “Include enrolled users” and then click Next.

  1. Scroll to the bottom and click Next.

  1. Choose what weeks or topics you would like to include and click next again.
  2. You may rename the file for easy location upon reload.

  1. Scroll to the bottom and click Perform Backup. After the backup, you can click Continue. You may download the backup, if you wish.

Restore

  1. Open the Moodle course you want to restore to which you want to restore the backup files.  Click on Restore under the Administration block.  

  1. Scroll down and locate the file in the “User private backup area” you wish to restore. Choose Restore to the far right of the file’s row.

  1. The next screen is an activities overview. Click continue and the bottom right of the page.

        

  1. There are three options; use “Restore to this course” and make sure that “Merge the backup course into this course. Then click the Continue button in that section.

  1. The “Restore settings” page allow you to include user information or to remove it. Click the Next button on the bottom right of the page to continue.

        

  1. You can choose to include or exclude weeks or topics under “Course settings” page. After you make your choices, click the Next button on the bottom right of the page to continue.

        

  1. Step 5 is a review. Click the “Perform backup” button on the bottom right of the page to complete the process.
