Like many endeavors for young children, art is a process rich in experimentation. During the creative process, children are learning how to manipulate materials through trial and error, developing skills to apply to later projects, and making decisions on what “looks good”. This is an important time for children to freely engage in visual exploration. An adult’s role is primarily to explain how to use a material or achieve a goal when a child acknowledges they need help. A beautiful aspect of art is that children and adults often develop solutions independently.

The art projects in the Art Studio at Imagination Station are loose recommendations on ways to interact with the materials. The objective is for children to enjoy the process of visual creation and exploration. We encourage a playful approach as parents work alongside their young person!
