ST. STEPHEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER & UPDATE
Healthy Hearts, Caring Minds
November 8, 2016
In this issue
“Bringing good news is imparting hope to one’s fellow man. The idea of redemption is always good news, even if it means sacrifice or some difficult times.”
Picture retakes will be taken on Wednesday, November 9th. If any families have decided not to order the original photos and would like to have new photos taken for their child, please have the student return the photo package to the school on Wednesday and they can have new photos taken that day. Any student who missed the original photo day will also be able to have their photo taken on Wednesday as well.
On Friday, November 11th, we will be celebrating our Remembrance Day liturgy in the gym at 10:30am. All members of our school community are invited to attend, especially any veterans and those working in uniformed occupations. Poppies will be sold on behalf of the Legion on Friday morning. Primary students who make a donation will receive a sticker, while Junior students who make a donation will receive a poppy that they can pin on their shirts or jackets.
School Council Meeting
The St. Stephen Catholic School Council will be holding their next meeting on Tuesday, November 15th. All interested parents are welcome to attend the meeting, which will begin in the school staff room at 6:30pm. More information about the council can be found at: http://ste.ocsb.ca/catholic-school-council.
Dressing for the Weather
As October’s surprising snowstorm showed us, the weather can change very quickly at this time of year. Students are reminded to wear layers and, if possible, bring extra clothing (dry socks, mitts, etc.), so they are best prepared for the changing, and often wet, fall weather. Please put your child’s name on extra items sent to school, if possible, to avoid the excessive number of items that end up in our Lost and Found bins.
We are very excited to be hosting the girls and boys volleyball tournaments at our school on Thursday, November 10th and Thursday, November 17th. The students are thrilled to be representing the school. We look forward to seeing parents who are attending the event, and welcoming the other schools to St. Stephen Catholic School. Go Stallions!
A reminder that Friday, November 18th is a PD Day. There will be no school that day as the teachers will be participating in a variety of professional development activities.
