CHURCH ASSEMBLY.

MICROPHONES and loud speakers leavened the formality of the autumn session of the Church Assembly yesterday afternoon in Church House, Westminster.

The Archbishop of York deputised for the Archbishop of Canterbury, who is not well, but whose portrait by Philip de Laszlo [4632] gave silent benison to the gathering of bishops, deans, and lesser ecclesiastics and laymen.
