Image Selection

All this & Present the images through an in-class presentation or screencast and do voice over

Compelling images support the message of the memoir. Slide shave a caption paraphrasing the significance of the event in 1-2 sentences no more.

Some slides are not attractive or have too much text or too little. Some errors

Images are distracting from the meaning of the story. Captions are missing or not edited.

Images are not relevant to the memoir, represent ideas or places that are not represented in the script. No captions

Images are the same as the original template.

Captions

Retold in a presentation

Caption in the slide notes or visually viewable on slide  fits with the images on the slides and supports the message of the memoir. Script is free of grammar, punctuation and other errors.

Caption  has been adapted to the shorter format of the digital story, but does not match well with the selected images, does not tell enough of the story or is full of proofreading errors.

Script is an unedited version of the original memoir, ie too long or not adapted to the shorter format necessary for a digital story.

Script is incomplete, not on slide notes section, or has so many grammar, punctuation and spelling errors that it is difficult to understand what the author is saying.

Notes section is still the original directions from the template.

Example slide w/ caption

Suddenly the bell rang and I saw my friend I had gotten my schedule with at the beginning, I asked her what class she had, and she ended up having the same class as me so we walked together. Finally, relief filled through me and I was able to see the light.

2. Create a painting or sketch of the memory of the event with a paragraph explaining the visual in one paragraph.
