DAO Proposal for Expanse - Group based funding system

Block Voting / Group Voting / Team Based Funding

Abstract: There is a problem with transparency on how to have funding paid out from the Expanse DAO while also respecting some levels of privacy for individuals. In the simplest terms, there are two obvious distribution methods.  One is having everything transparent and paid individually by individuals.  The other is to have it group based and have the DAO pay out group-by-group.  This proposal is suggesting that the group based approach is superior in many ways.

The simple idea is that limited funding from the Expanse DAO is given out to groups after they win votes for approved proposals, and then they have publicly reported total amounts and proposals for everyone to see. How they report the distribution of funds in their group is up to them, and the public can decide what they find more favorable in a free and open market.

So, for example, group A gets paid X amount after winning the vote, that total amount is public and reported for the amount the group was paid and what they are working on for it.

Examples of possible block voting groups:

  1. Core Team
  2. Contributors
  3. Expanse Social Media Team
  4. Expanse Hero Dapp Developer Group
  5. Individual (Group of one)
  6. Groups that make proposals to help Expanse in some way

Group based voting would cut down on the overall votes needed for the Expanse DAO dramatically, allowing the Expanse DAO to be more effective with time management and resources. This would also decentralize power down to the sub-groups, freeing up the team to focus on advancing the platform in the best possible order of importance. In summary, the proposal of Group Based voting for Expanse DAO offers potential savings of time for group based funding, and favors decentralized control by the groups themselves.
