When is my presentation / paper due?  April 23, 2018

Please note, we will be supplying all speakers with an official STEP CC18 PowerPoint Template, which speakers will be required to use.

We can not guarantee that updates will be accepted after the submission date.

At the conference we are very busy working with the AV team to ensure a professionally run event.  We are not always able to get online or have time to check our emails so please do not email updated presentations while we are onsite.

Please send your presentation in ppt.format. We will convert it to a pdf for posting online.

Because  our speakers are seasoned professionals  and of influence, it is important to us  that we be able to provide speaker papers to our delegates that reflect your best thinking and opinion on your topic.  Speaker papers will be an additional item to your presentation and are of significant value to our delegates as they continue to learn and lead in their fields.  Papers can be articles that you have authored or what you consider to be the best thinking from other sources.  We do not expect you to produce new material just for the conference but we are always looking for leading edge information that you feel should be made available to the delegates to further enrich your topic.  

Papers and presentations will be posted online for the delegates to download.

What if my presentation requires handouts?


If submitted in advance with your presentation, we can arrange to have your handout posted on the website.

If you want the delegates to have a hard copy,  please bring 250 copies. Drop these off at the registration desk and we we can hand these out as people register or arrange to distribute them prior to your session.

What time do I present?     VIEW CONFERENCE SCHEDULE

Please refer to the conference schedule posted online. As we may need to make some minor adjustments up until the start of the conference, be sure that you check the schedule the day before you present.

Please identify yourself to one of the AV team during the break prior to your presentation. Please be in the audience for the session before yours.

The date, time and descriptor of your presentation are posted on the conference schedule.

Do I need to bring a copy of my presentation or my laptop?

You should bring a copy with you on a memory stick as a backup. However, the presentation that you have submitted,  by the due date, will be preloaded onto the technician’s computer and will be on the screen ready to go. You will have a wireless mouse on the podium to advance the slides. There will be a large monitor in front of you so that you can see your presentation without turning around.

There will be a podium and microphone available, however, if you wish to use a lapel microphone please advise the technician well before you go on stage.

We may have added a conference slide before or after your presentation so accepting updated presentations is at the sole discretion of the technician.

Expense Policy

The conference has been established as a not for profit so that all money raised goes to the underwriting of the conference expenses and supporting educational initiatives of the local chapter of STEP.  As a result, we are unable to pay our speakers or their expenses, however, we  invite you to the entire event including receiving all delegate materials and taking part in all hospitality and networking activities as our guest.

To this end, we only cover the cost of the speaker’s registration which includes:

  • All hospitality events listed on the Conference Schedule
  • All conference sessions
  • Continental breakfasts
  • Refreshment breaks each day
  • Lunches posted on the conference schedule

Please note that your acceptance of our invitation to be a speaker at the STEP Conference assumes that papers and presentations will be provided for inclusion in the delegate materials. Failure to provide these items significantly impacts the value of the conference and the standard of professionalism which is associated with this event. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

It is the policy of the Steering Committee that speakers should not make remarks which disparage or promote any one or more of the offshore Caribbean jurisdictions which participate in the organization of the conference (or their laws or"products") to the detriment of the other offshore Caribbean jurisdictions since this will undoubtedly offend delegates from those jurisdictions and run contrary to the spirit of the Conference.  Presentations may nevertheless usefully refer to or compare the laws of those jurisdictions provided this is done in a respectful manner.

In addition, the Conference attracts delegates from other competing offshore jurisdictions in which STEP has Branches, and highly negative remarks about those jurisdictions are strongly discouraged.
