25th October, 1926.

My dear Mr. Palmer,

I am just back from the country and hasten to thank you for your kind letter and for the interest and goodwill you have shown towards our son, Stephen.[1]

It was most good of you to send me so soon the address of Mr. Ackermann with whom I have to arrange about the coaching of Stephen, and no doubt your kind introduction to Mr. Ackermann will be a great help to Stephen. I am awaiting daily to hear from him as to when we can expect him home and I am sure that about the first days of next month he will be able to begin his work, but, in any case, I will communicate with you again as soon as I hear from Stephen.

I much enjoyed my lunch with you and was very interested in your splendid Institute of Engineers, and I look forward, with pride to the time when my picture of you[2] will be added to that long chain of distinguished Presidents of the Institute.

With kindest regards to Mrs. Palmer and yourself, | Always yours sincerely,
